MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,218 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,218 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 461 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Daytona Beach International Airport took 19 minutes and covered a distance of 6 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 07L, utilizing 627 meters or 21% of the runway's length to achieve liftoff at a speed of 88 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure featured a temperature of 16°C, with a gentle wind of 2 knots from a direction of 270°, resulting in a negligible crosswind component.
As the aircraft climbed away from Daytona Beach, it transitioned into an enroute climb, ascending from 1,009 feet above sea level to 8,000 feet in just 5 minutes, covering a distance of 10 nautical miles. This climb phase was followed by a level cruise, which began approximately 1 mile north-east of Ormond Beach Municipal Airport and lasted for 16 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 44 nautical miles. The flight then entered a series of enroute descents, with the first occurring 3 miles north-west of Northeast Florida Regional Airport, where the aircraft descended from 7,990 feet to 5,005 feet in 5 minutes, covering 14 nautical miles. The final descent phase began 4 miles south-east of Nassau Village-Ratliff, with the aircraft descending from 4,579 feet to 1,307 feet in 5 minutes, covering 13 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered the final approach phase, aligning itself with runway 14 at Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport from a heading of 135.0°, 4 nautical miles from the threshold. The landing was completed on the runway, with a touchdown distance of 460 meters, which was considered good. However, the touchdown speed of 72 knots was slightly higher than desired, and the touchdown rate of -263 feet per minute was fair. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was also satisfactory. The total landing distance was 780 meters, accounting for 64% of the runway's length. The aircraft used a total of 12 kilograms of fuel during the flight, which covered a distance of 110 nautical miles and lasted for 48 minutes.
The aircraft touched down on runway 14 at KCRG Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport, demonstrating a satisfactory approach quality. The final approach was initiated from the north west, heading 135.0° at 4 nm and 1,268 ft above ground level. The aircraft maintained a steady descent, but unfortunately, the threshold height at 67 ft agl was above the target, indicating a slight deviation from the ideal approach path.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft exhibited a touchdown distance of 460 m, which was within acceptable limits. However, the touchdown speed of 72 kt was a little fast, and the touchdown rate of -263 fpm was only fair. Despite these minor issues, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating a high degree of control and precision during the landing phase. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 16 °C and a gentle wind of 3 kt at 269°, contributed to a relatively straightforward landing.
The aircraft's rollout was characterized by perfect alignment, demonstrating a high level of control and stability during the deceleration phase. The total landing distance of 780 m, which accounted for 64% of the runway length, was within acceptable limits. Overall, the landing performance was satisfactory, with a score of 91.2% reflecting the minor deviations from the ideal approach and touchdown characteristics.
