Improve the takeoff
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 880 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 880 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 374 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Diamond DA40 taxied to runway 26 at EGHP Popham Airfield and commenced the take-off roll, covering 486 m which represented 55 % of the available runway. Liftoff was achieved at 60 kt under local conditions of 15 °C temperature, a 2 kt wind from 269°, with no cross-wind component and a 2 kt head-wind.
After departure the aircraft entered the climb phase overhead EGHP, climbing from 757 ft asl to 830 ft asl - a gain of 73 ft - in less than one minute while covering less than one nautical mile.
The level cruise segment began again over EGHP and was maintained for three minutes, during which the aircraft travelled five nautical miles.
For the approach the aircraft aligned with runway 26 at EGHP, where the runway length is 880 m. The threshold speed was recorded at 69 kt and the aircraft touched down after travelling 182 m down the runway at a speed of 60 kt. The touchdown rate was -263 fpm and runway alignment at touchdown was perfect; weather remained 15 °C with a 2 kt wind from 271°, no cross-wind and a 2 kt head-wind.
Rollout continued along the runway with perfect alignment, and the total landing distance was measured at 308 m, equivalent to 35 % of the runway length.
In summary, the flight covered a total of 11 nm, required ten minutes of elapsed time, and consumed 1 kg of fuel.
The approach was conducted in calm conditions with a temperature of 15 °C, a wind from 271° at 2 kt, a head-wind component of 2 kt and no cross-wind.
At threshold the aircraft maintained a good height and a good threshold speed of 69 kt.
Touchdown occurred 182 m down the runway at a good speed of 60 kt; the descent rate was fair at minus 263 fpm and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The total landing distance was 308 m, representing 35 % of the 880 m runway, and the rollout alignment was perfect.
To refine the already strong performance, focus on moderating the flare to achieve a slightly lower descent rate, which will further improve touchdown smoothness while preserving the excellent alignment and distance control.
