Monitor your taxi speed
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,195 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 475 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport (CYOW), the Airbus A320 began its journey by taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. Upon reaching runway 25, the aircraft initiated its departure roll, accelerating down the 1,285-meter stretch of the 2,400-meter runway, which accounted for 53% of its length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 152 knots, overcoming the headwind of 22 knots and the crosswind of 12 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from CYOW, it began its enroute climb, ascending from 1,323 feet above sea level to 27,337 feet, a vertical gain of 26,014 feet, in just 11 minutes and covering a distance of 53 nautical miles. The climb phase was followed by a level cruise, which started 8 miles north of Tomvale Airport (CNA9) and lasted for 13 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 70 nautical miles. The enroute descent phase began 3 miles east of Bobcaygeon / Chesher Lakehurst Airport (CLH5), where the aircraft descended from 26,850 feet to 1,856 feet, a decrease of 24,994 feet, in 18 minutes and covering 74 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached Toronto Lester B. Pearson International Airport (CYYZ), it initiated its final approach to runway 23, aligning itself with the runway from the north-east at a heading of 226.0°, 4 nautical miles from the threshold and 1,300 feet above ground level. The aircraft landed on the 3,195-meter runway, with a touchdown point 69 meters beyond the touchdown zone, at a speed of 140 knots, which was slightly above the target speed. The aircraft's touchdown rate was fair at -237 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.2 meters from the centerline. Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, a process that took 14 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The total flight distance was 208 nautical miles, and the aircraft used 2,243 kilograms of fuel during the 67-minute flight.
The aircraft touched down on runway 23 at CYYZ Toronto Lester B. Pearson International Airport, with a threshold height that met the desired standards. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target, registering 142 kt. The approach quality was otherwise satisfactory, with the aircraft maintaining a steady heading of 226.0° from a distance of 4 nm and an altitude of 1,300 ft above ground level.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was a little fast at 140 kt, and the touchdown rate was fair at -237 fpm. The touchdown point was 69 m beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight deviation from the ideal landing spot. The runway touchdown position was also slightly misaligned, deviating by 6.2 m from the centreline. Despite these minor discrepancies, the local weather conditions, with a temperature of 18 °C and a wind of 19 kt at 200°, did not pose a significant challenge to the landing.
The aircraft's rollout was characterized by very good alignment, with the aircraft staying on course. The total landing distance of 1,424 m, which accounted for 45% of the runway length, was within acceptable limits. Overall, the landing performance was satisfactory, with a score of 97.1%.
