Flight Score
Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
At the 500 ft gate: speed 10 kt SLOW on the reference speed of 87 kt.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 11,466 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 3,225 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departure from General Manuel Carlos Piar International Airport, Puerto Ordaz-Ciudad Guayana, was marked by a smooth taxiing process, taking just 4 minutes to reach the runway. The Vision Jet then accelerated down runway 08, lifting off at a speed of 99 kt after a takeoff distance of 3,182 ft, which accounted for 47% of the available runway length. The aircraft climbed away from the airport, overcoming a headwind of 11 kt, and began its enroute climb at an altitude of 1,425 ft asl.
The climb phase was characterized by a steady increase in altitude, reaching 23,849 ft asl after 16 minutes and covering a distance of 57 nm. The aircraft then transitioned into a level cruise, maintaining a steady altitude for 45 minutes as it covered 221 nm. This was followed by a series of descents, with the first one starting 9 miles northeast of Guatire Airport, where the aircraft descended from 23,556 ft asl to 4,013 ft asl in 18 minutes, covering 73 nm. The final descent phase began 10 miles west of Catia La Mar, where the aircraft touched down on runway 10 at Simón Bolívar International Airport after a go-around. The landing was notable for a touchdown speed of 67 kt and a touchdown rate of -95 fpm, with the runway touchdown alignment being very good.
The Vision Jet's performance during the landing phase was impressive, with a total landing distance of 3,651 ft, accounting for 32% of the available runway length. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area, taking just 3 minutes to cover the short distance. The total flight distance was 379 nm, with a flight time of 98 minutes and a fuel consumption of 683 lbs. The local weather conditions during the flight were characterized by temperatures ranging from 82 °F to 79 °F, with winds of 11 kt to 12 kt.
The Vision Jet touched down on runway 10 at SVMI Simón Bolívar International Airport, completing a successful landing. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a heading of 88.0° from 4 nm away at 1,336 ft above ground level. The aircraft maintained a steady descent, but the threshold height at 82 ft agl was significantly above the target, indicating a slight deviation from the ideal approach path.
As the Vision Jet made contact with the runway, it touched down 1,786 ft beyond the touchdown zone at a speed of 67 kt, which was within the acceptable range. The touchdown rate of -95 fpm was excellent, demonstrating precise control and a smooth landing. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, with the aircraft centered on the runway. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 79 °F and a 12 kt headwind, contributed to a stable and predictable approach.
The Vision Jet's rollout was flawless, with perfect alignment on the runway centerline. The total landing distance of 3,651 ft was 32% of the runway length, indicating a controlled and efficient landing. Overall, the landing performance scored 81.2%, reflecting a good balance of approach quality, touchdown characteristics, and rollout alignment.
