MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,815 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,815 m of the 2,495 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 359 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Hamad International Airport (OTHH) in Doha, Qatar, the Airbus A350-900 began its journey with a taxiing period of 7 minutes, covering 2 nautical miles to reach the runway. The aircraft then took off from runway 34R, utilizing 1,785 meters, or 37% of the runway, to achieve liftoff at a speed of 158 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 22°C, with a gentle wind of 4 knots at 20°.
As the aircraft climbed to its initial cruising altitude, it traversed a significant distance, covering 140 nautical miles in 11 minutes and ascending by 30,032 feet to reach 30,966 feet above sea level. The enroute climb phase was punctuated by several level cruise segments, including a notable 20-minute period of steady flight at 38,001 feet above sea level, covering 622 nautical miles. The aircraft also underwent a series of climbs, including a 3-minute ascent from 32,001 feet to 38,001 feet, and a 2-minute climb from 38,057 feet to 40,000 feet. The final descent phase began 2 miles north of Oosteeklo, Flanders, Belgium, and concluded with a landing on runway 08R at London Gatwick Airport (EGKK).
The landing was executed with a total distance of 1,732 meters, or 69% of the runway, and a touchdown speed of 135 knots. Although the touchdown speed was slightly above the target, the touchdown rate was firm at -318 feet per minute. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area, taking 4 minutes to cover 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 2,921 nautical miles, with a flight time of 127 minutes and a fuel consumption of 37,847 kilograms.
The aircraft touched down on runway 08R at EGKK London Gatwick Airport with a threshold height that met expectations. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target, registering 136 kt. The touchdown distance was satisfactory, measuring 361 m, but the touchdown speed of 135 kt was a tad faster than desired. The touchdown rate was firm, at -318 fpm, indicating a controlled descent.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's runway touchdown position was found to be misaligned by 10.4 m from the centreline, which could be attributed to factors such as crosswind or pilot error. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 8 °C and a gentle headwind of 6 kt, were not particularly challenging. The aircraft's total landing distance of 1,732 m, accounting for 69% of the runway length, was within acceptable limits.
During the rollout phase, the aircraft's alignment was found to be slightly misaligned from the centreline, by 11.5 m. Despite this, the overall performance of the landing was satisfactory, earning a score of 94.5%. The crew's ability to manage the aircraft's descent and touchdown was commendable, although there is room for improvement in terms of speed control and alignment during the rollout phase.
