MY FS FLIGHTS

Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,586 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 375 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a CRJ700ER, then departed from runway 36R at KCVG Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,589 meters, which accounted for 52% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 143 knots.
As the aircraft climbed out of the airport, it began its enroute climb 1 mile north east of KCVG. The climb started from an altitude of 1,902 feet above sea level and reached a maximum altitude of 30,965 feet above sea level, an increase of 29,063 feet in 11 minutes. The aircraft covered a distance of 126 nautical miles during this climb phase.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 4 miles west of Teays Valley in West Virginia. This phase lasted for 16 minutes and covered a distance of 129 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent 8 miles north west of 16VA Smith Heliport in Winchester, Virginia. The descent started from an altitude of 30,893 feet above sea level and reached a minimum altitude of 3,204 feet above sea level, a decrease of 27,689 feet in 16 minutes. The aircraft covered a distance of 104 nautical miles during this descent phase.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 1 mile south of Mount Vernon in Virginia. This phase lasted for 3 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, which started overhead Fort Washington in Maryland. The descent started from an altitude of 2,570 feet above sea level and reached a minimum altitude of 240 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,330 feet in 4 minutes. The aircraft covered a distance of 8 nautical miles during this final descent phase.
The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 33 at KDCA Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport from the south east. The aircraft was heading 320.0 degrees at 1 nautical mile and 227 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 33, which had a length of 1,586 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 138 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 374 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 126 knots. The touchdown rate was fair at -220 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 6 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 6 knots at 350 degrees. The crosswind was 3 knots, and the headwind was 5 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,035 meters, which accounted for 65% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 376 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 58 minutes. The aircraft used 1,739 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The CRJ700ER aircraft successfully landed at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (KDCA) on runway 33, achieving a score of 98.7%. The final approach was conducted from the southeast, heading 320.0° at 1 nautical mile and 227 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft maintained a good alignment with the runway throughout the approach.
Upon touchdown, the threshold height was satisfactory, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 138 knots. However, the touchdown distance of 374 meters was within acceptable limits. The touchdown speed of 126 knots was a bit faster than desired, but the touchdown rate of -220 feet per minute (fpm) was fair. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot maintained a precise approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 6°C, with a wind speed of 6 knots from 350°. The crosswind component was minimal at 3 knots, while the headwind component was 5 knots. These conditions did not significantly impact the landing.
The total landing distance of 1,035 meters was 65% of the runway length, which is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the pilot demonstrating good control and precision throughout the approach and touchdown phases. However, there were some minor deviations from the target speeds and rates, which could be addressed through further training or adjustments to the aircraft's performance.
