Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,880 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,880 m of the 3,200 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,118 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Boeing 777F taxied from the parking area to runway 25C at VHHH Hong Kong International Airport, a movement that required 8 minutes and covered 3 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 25C, the aircraft used a takeoff distance of 2,289 m, representing 63 % of the runway, and lifted off at 190 kt; ambient temperature was 31 °C with a wind of 5 kt from 200 °, a cross-wind component of 4 kt and a head-wind component of 3 kt.
The first en-route climb began 1 mile west of VHHH, climbing from 994 ft asl to 30,003 ft asl, an increase of 29,008 ft achieved in 24 minutes while covering 169 nm.
Level cruise commenced 6 miles north-west of Qingyuan, lasting 196 minutes and traversing 1,652 nm.
A subsequent climb started 84 m
The Boeing 777F approached runway 25L at Brussels Airport from the east on a heading of 250.0° while 4 NM out and at 1,273 ft agl, with ambient temperature 17 °C, a wind from 270° at 4 kt, a 1 kt cross-wind component and a 3 kt head-wind component.
At threshold the aircraft maintained a good height and a threshold speed of 144 kt, both recorded as good.
Touchdown occurred 707 m beyond the designated touchdown zone with a speed of 134 kt judged good; the vertical rate was fair at minus 265 fpm and the touchdown point was slightly misaligned by 5.2 m from the centreline.
The rollout covered a total landing distance of 1,804 m, representing 56 % of the 3,205 m runway, and the runway alignment during rollout was very good.
Refine the flare to achieve a shallower descent rate and reduce the vertical speed at touchdown, and aim to keep centreline deviation within a metre to tighten the already solid alignment.
