Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,153 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 298 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took approximately 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-900, then departed from runway 30 at KALO Waterloo Regional Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,328 meters, which accounted for 52% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 159 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of -14 °C, with a wind speed of 3 knots at 239 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, starting approximately 1 mile northwest of KALO Waterloo Regional Airport. The climb took 36 minutes, during which the aircraft ascended from 1,831 feet above sea level to 37,012 feet above sea level, an increase of 35,181 feet. The enroute climb covered a distance of 267 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started approximately 20 miles west of Manistee, Michigan, United States. This phase of the flight lasted for 173 minutes and covered a distance of 992 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its enroute descent, starting approximately 16 miles northeast of Kensington, Prince Edward Island, Canada. The descent took 7 minutes, during which the aircraft descended from 36,991 feet above sea level to 2,420 feet above sea level, a decrease of 34,570 feet. The enroute descent covered a distance of 122 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started approximately 9 miles west of Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada. This phase of the flight lasted for 4 minutes and covered a distance of 12 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 06 at CYQY Sydney / J.A. Douglas McCurdy Airport was made from the southwest, with a heading of 46.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,282 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 06, which had a length of 2,153 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 144 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 300 meters, and the touchdown speed was 137 knots, which was also good. The touchdown rate was firm at -367 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.7 meters from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 2 °C, with a wind speed of 8 knots at 263 degrees. The crosswind was 5 knots, and the tailwind was 7 knots.
The total landing distance was 959 meters, which accounted for 45% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 10.2 meters from the centreline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took approximately 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
In total, the flight covered a distance of 1,400 nautical miles, taking 166 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 8,535 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-900 aircraft successfully landed at CYQY Sydney / J.A. Douglas McCurdy Airport, achieving a score of 95.1%. The final approach to runway 06 was conducted from the south-west, with a heading of 46.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,282 feet above ground level.
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 144 knots. The touchdown distance was within acceptable limits at 300 meters, and the touchdown speed of 137 knots was also good. However, the touchdown rate was slightly firm at -367 feet per minute, indicating a slightly steeper descent than ideal.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 5.7 meters, which may have been due to factors such as wind or pilot error. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 2°C, with a wind speed of 8 knots from a direction of 263°. This resulted in a crosswind of 5 knots and a tailwind of 7 knots, which may have affected the aircraft's alignment during landing.
The total landing distance was 959 meters, which is 45% of the runway length. This is a relatively short distance, indicating a good landing performance. However, the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned from the centreline by 10.2 meters, which may have been due to the same factors that affected the touchdown position.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some minor deviations from ideal performance. The pilots' skills and the aircraft's handling characteristics were able to compensate for these deviations, resulting in a safe and successful landing.
