Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,914 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 494 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking to the runway at Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport, taking 11 minutes and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 30, with a takeoff distance of 1,454 meters, which was 53% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 161 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of 13°C temperature and a wind speed of 24 knots at 279 degrees. The crosswind was 7 knots, while the headwind was 23 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile northwest of the airport and reached an altitude of 35,569 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,542 feet in 19 minutes and covering 114 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered a level cruise, starting 5 miles northwest of Huescar, Spain, and lasting 21 minutes, covering 169 nautical miles. The cruise was followed by a descent from 35,682 feet to 24,907 feet above sea level, a decrease of 10,775 feet in 7 minutes and covering 52 nautical miles. This descent took place overhead Vila-real, Spain.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 1 mile north of Sant Carles de la Rapita, Spain, and lasting 2 minutes, covering 13 nautical miles. However, this was followed by another descent, starting 7 miles northeast of Deltebre Airport, Spain, and reaching an altitude of 4,470 feet above sea level, a decrease of 20,443 feet in 15 minutes and covering 84 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 10 miles southeast of Vilassar de Mar, Spain, and lasting 5 minutes, covering 5 nautical miles. This was followed by another descent, starting 7 miles southeast of Mataro, Spain, and reaching an altitude of 2,230 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,635 feet in 3 minutes and covering 11 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 5 miles southeast of el Besos i el Maresme, Spain, and lasting 3 minutes, covering 7 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 24R at Barcelona-El Prat Airport took place from the northeast, heading 246.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,275 feet above ground level.
The landing took place on runway 24R, which was 2,914 meters long. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 143 knots. The touchdown point was 75 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 131 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was smooth at -144 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.3 meters from the centerline.
The total landing distance was 1,261 meters, which was 43% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing to the parking from the runway took 6 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 463 nautical miles, taking 95 minutes, and the aircraft used 3,507 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed on runway 24R at LEBL Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, achieving a high score of 98.7%. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the north east, heading 246.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,275 feet above ground level.
The final approach was executed smoothly, with the aircraft touching down 75 meters beyond the touchdown zone. Although the touchdown speed of 131 knots was slightly above the target, the touchdown rate was smooth at -144 feet per minute, indicating a controlled descent. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.3 meters from the centerline, but the rollout alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 13°C and a wind speed of 23 knots at 230°. The crosswind component was minimal at 6 knots, while the headwind component was 22 knots, which helped to reduce the landing distance. The total landing distance of 1,261 meters was 43% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing roll.
Overall, the landing was executed well, with the aircraft touching down smoothly and the rollout alignment being very good. However, there were some minor deviations from the target, including a slightly fast touchdown speed and a misaligned touchdown position. Nevertheless, the pilot's skills and the aircraft's performance resulted in a safe and successful landing.
