Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,894 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,894 m of the 4,265 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 463 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, which took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, then departed from runway 36 at Winnipeg / James Armstrong Richardson International Airport, with a takeoff distance of 1,060 meters, which accounted for 32% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 148 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of -4°C, with a wind speed of 4 knots at a direction of 10°.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead Winnipeg / James Armstrong Richardson International Airport. The climb took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 107 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 1,814 feet above sea level to 37,942 feet above sea level, an increase of 36,127 feet. Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 15 minutes and covered a distance of 409 nautical miles, 7 miles south west of Minnedosa, Manitoba.
As the aircraft continued its journey, it began its enroute descent, which started 16 miles north west of Oyen Municipal Airport in Alberta. The descent took 15 minutes and covered a distance of 124 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from an altitude of 37,952 feet above sea level to 4,850 feet above sea level, a decrease of 33,102 feet. The final approach to runway 17L at Calgary International Airport was made from the north, with a heading of 181.0°, at an altitude of 4 nautical miles and 1,285 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 17L was successful, with a touchdown point 48 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was slightly above the target speed at 138 knots, but the touchdown rate was good at -151 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.4 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of -2°C, with a wind speed of 2 knots at a direction of 230°.
The total landing distance was 1,814 meters, which accounted for 43% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good, and the taxiing period from the runway to the parking area took 4 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 649 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 53 minutes, during which the aircraft used 4,019 kilograms of fuel.
The Boeing 737-700 aircraft successfully landed at Calgary International Airport, with a score of 99.3%. The final approach to runway 17L was initiated from the north, heading 181.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,285 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft maintained a steady course, taking advantage of the favorable wind conditions, with a 2-knot headwind and a negligible crosswind.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 137 knots, registering at 138 knots. However, the touchdown speed of 134 knots was a bit faster than desired, indicating a slight loss of control during the final stages of the landing. The touchdown rate of -151 feet per minute (fpm) was satisfactory, indicating a controlled descent.
The touchdown point was located 48 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. Furthermore, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.4 meters from the centerline, which may have contributed to the slightly faster touchdown speed. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of -2°C and a gentle wind of 2 knots at 230°, did not pose any significant challenges to the landing.
The total landing distance of 1,814 meters was 43% of the available runway length, which is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was excellent, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the post-landing phase. Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft coming to a stop in a relatively short distance and with minimal deviation from the centerline.
