Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 8,988 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 901 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in question was operated by an Airbus A21N aircraft. The pre-flight taxiing process took 14 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile as the aircraft made its way from the parking area to the runway. The departure roll took place on runway 09C at Chicago O'Hare International Airport, with the aircraft taking off after covering 6,049 feet, which was 57% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was recorded at 169 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 29 degrees Fahrenheit, with no wind present. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting overhead Rosemont, Illinois, and ascending from 1,680 feet above sea level to 34,013 feet above sea level, an increase of 32,333 feet, in 28 minutes and covering a distance of 176 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 2 miles west of Brewer Airport in Ramsey, Illinois, and lasted for 55 minutes, covering a distance of 417 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, starting 6 miles east of Bernice, Louisiana, and descending from 34,011 feet above sea level to 27,743 feet above sea level, a decrease of 6,268 feet, in 9 minutes and covering a distance of 62 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 2 miles northeast of Saint Maurice, Louisiana, and lasted for 7 minutes, covering a distance of 42 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another climb, starting 8 miles southwest of Hodges Airfield in Many, Louisiana, and ascending from 27,104 feet above sea level to 28,206 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,102 feet, in 2 minutes and covering a distance of 14 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its descent once again, starting 2 miles east of Scrappin Valley Airport in Wiergate, Texas, and descending from 28,340 feet above sea level to 8,010 feet above sea level, a decrease of 20,330 feet, in 16 minutes and covering a distance of 79 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 2 miles south of Hardin, Texas, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its final descent, starting 2 miles south of Liberty, Texas, and descending from 7,627 feet above sea level to 1,362 feet above sea level, a decrease of 6,264 feet, in 8 minutes and covering a distance of 23 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 26R at George Bush Intercontinental Houston Airport, flying from the east and heading 270 degrees at an altitude of 1,260 feet above ground level.
The landing took place on runway 26R, which had a length of 8,988 feet. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 136 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 896 feet, and the touchdown speed was 134 knots, which was also good. The touchdown rate was firm at -376 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 71 degrees Fahrenheit, with no wind present. The total landing distance was 3,168 feet, which was 35% of the runway length. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 32 feet from the centerline.
The total flight distance was 828 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 140 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 13,348 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The aircraft, identified as an A21N, successfully landed at KIAH George Bush Intercontinental Houston Airport on runway 26R. The final approach was initiated from the east, heading 270.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,260 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft demonstrated a high level of proficiency in its approach, with a score of 95.4%.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 134 knots, which was within the acceptable threshold speed of 136 knots. The touchdown distance of 896 feet was also within the expected range, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The touchdown rate of -376 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, suggesting a stable and controlled landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 71°F and a wind speed of 0 knots from 0°. This meant that there was no crosswind or headwind to affect the aircraft's approach or landing. The total landing distance of 3,168 feet was 35% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the runway's length of 8,988 feet.
However, there was a slight deviation in the runway rollout alignment, with the aircraft being 32 feet off the centerline. This may indicate a slight loss of control or a minor deviation in the pilot's alignment during the rollout phase. Nevertheless, the overall performance of the aircraft and the pilot was impressive, with a high score and a smooth, controlled landing.
