Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,708 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,708 m of the 2,593 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 849 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Punta Cana International Airport, taking approximately 8 minutes and covering a distance of 1 nautical mile. Departure roll took place on runway 08, with the aircraft lifting off after a takeoff distance of 1,950 meters, which was 63% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 164 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 11 knots at a direction of 29 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 8 knots and a headwind of 8 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile northeast of Punta Cana International Airport and ascending from an altitude of 1,080 feet above sea level to 35,266 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,186 feet in 23 minutes, covering a distance of 131 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, starting 1 mile south of Moca, Dominican Republic, and lasting 97 minutes, covering a distance of 664 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another climb phase, this time overhead Virginia Gardens, Florida, United States, ascending from 34,720 feet above sea level to 35,772 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,052 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 14 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, starting 9 miles southwest of Opa Locka West Miami, Florida, United States, and lasting 204 minutes, covering a distance of 1,387 nautical miles. As the flight progressed, the aircraft began its descent phase, starting 5 miles southeast of Cimarron Airport, New Mexico, United States, and descending from 34,777 feet above sea level to 8,823 feet above sea level, a decrease of 25,954 feet in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 82 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 02 at San Luis Valley Regional Airport/Bergman Field was made from the southwest, heading 32.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,276 feet above ground level. The landing took place on runway 02, which had a length of 2,593 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 134 knots. The touchdown point was 438 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 125 knots, which was good. However, the touchdown rate was fair at -268 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 10.9 meters from the centerline, and the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 10.7 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 9 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 1 knot at a direction of 326 degrees. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the headwind was 0 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,632 meters, which was 63% of the runway length. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took approximately 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 2,286 nautical miles, taking a total of 357 minutes, and the aircraft used 14,090 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at KALS San Luis Valley Regional Airport/Bergman Field, achieving a score of 90.3%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southwest, heading 32.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,276 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with good threshold height and speed, reaching 134 knots at the threshold.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 438 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, with a speed of 125 knots. However, the touchdown rate was slightly below average at -268 feet per minute (fpm), which could be considered fair. The runway touchdown position was also slightly misaligned from the centerline by 10.9 meters.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 9°C and a gentle wind of 1 knot from 326°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was negligible at 0 knots. The total landing distance covered by the aircraft was 1,632 meters, which accounted for approximately 63% of the runway length.
During the rollout phase, the aircraft's alignment was slightly off-centerline by 10.7 meters. Despite these minor deviations, the overall landing performance of the Airbus A320 was satisfactory, with a score of 90.3%.
