Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,616 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 521 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, which took 14 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, an SR22, then departed from runway 25 at CYVP Kuujjuaq Airport in Kuujjuaq, Quebec, Canada. The takeoff distance was 23 meters, which was 1% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 66 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of -6°C and a wind speed of 5 knots from a direction of 110°. The crosswind component was 5 knots, while the tailwind component was 2 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, which started overhead CYVP Kuujjuaq Airport. The climb took the aircraft from an altitude of 458 feet above sea level to 14,931 feet above sea level, an increase of 14,473 feet in 14 minutes, covering a distance of 30 nautical miles.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 30 minutes and covered a distance of 248 nautical miles. This phase began 30 miles north of CYVP Kuujjuaq Airport. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 35 miles east of CYLC Kimmirut Airport in Kimmirut, Nunavut, Canada. The descent took the aircraft from an altitude of 14,790 feet above sea level to 1,892 feet above sea level, a decrease of 12,898 feet in 10 minutes, covering a distance of 46 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which lasted for 8 minutes and covered a distance of 13 nautical miles. This phase began 18 miles southeast of Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada. The aircraft then began its final descent, which started 6 miles southeast of Iqaluit. The descent took the aircraft from an altitude of 1,787 feet above sea level to 1,158 feet above sea level, a decrease of 629 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 3 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 34 at CYFB Iqaluit Airport was made from the southeast, with the aircraft heading 316.0° at an altitude of 1,062 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 34, which had a length of 2,616 meters. The threshold height was above the target, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 85 knots.
The touchdown point was 86 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 76 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was smooth at -115 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.5 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were the same as at the time of departure, with a temperature of -6°C and a wind speed of 5 knots from a direction of 110°.
The crosswind component was 2 knots, while the tailwind component was 5 knots. The total landing distance was 962 meters, which was 37% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 10.3 meters from the centerline. The total flight distance was 346 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 75 minutes. The aircraft used 115 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The SR22 aircraft successfully landed at CYFB Iqaluit Airport, achieving a score of 91.2%. The final approach to runway 34 was initiated from the southeast, heading 316.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,062 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on the runway, which has a length of 2,616 meters.
Upon landing, the threshold height was found to be above the target, indicating that the aircraft descended slightly more than intended. The threshold speed was also slightly above the target, reaching 85 knots. The touchdown point was located 86 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed of 76 knots was a little faster than desired. However, the touchdown rate was smooth, with a descent rate of -115 feet per minute.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of -6°C, with a wind speed of 5 knots from a direction of 110°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, while the tailwind component was 5 knots. These conditions did not appear to significantly impact the landing.
The total landing distance was 962 meters, which accounted for 37% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned from the centerline, with an offset of 10.3 meters. Despite these minor deviations, the landing was deemed successful, with a score of 91.2%.
