MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 1,000 ft gate: sink rate above what the glideslope needed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 2,279 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,279 m of the 3,987 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 553 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in question was operated by an Airbus A321 aircraft. The pre-flight taxiing process from the parking area to the runway took approximately 9 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 22 at the LDZA Zagreb Franjo Tuđman International Airport.
During takeoff, the aircraft lifted off the ground at a speed of 139 knots, covering a distance of 1,398 meters, which is 43% of the runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 7°C, with a wind speed of 8 knots at a direction of 270°. The crosswind component was 5 knots, while the headwind component was 6 knots.
After takeoff, the aircraft began its enroute climb, which started overhead the town of Velika Mlaka in Zagreb County, Croatia. The climb phase involved an increase in altitude from 1,354 feet above sea level to 32,001 feet above sea level, a total increase of 30,648 feet, over a distance of 98 nautical miles, and took approximately 15 minutes to complete.
The enroute level cruise phase started 2 miles east of Eberstein in Kaernten, Austria, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 26 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent from 32,015 feet above sea level to 19,006 feet above sea level, a decrease of 13,009 feet, over a distance of 72 nautical miles, and took approximately 11 minutes to complete.
The enroute level cruise phase was repeated several times, with the aircraft cruising at different altitudes and locations. The first level cruise phase started overhead Kirchanschoring in Bavaria, Germany, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 10 nautical miles. The second level cruise phase started 1 mile west of Garching bei Munchen in Bavaria, Germany, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 12 nautical miles.
The final descent phase started 1 mile west of Haimhausen in Bavaria, Germany, and involved a decrease in altitude from 4,006 feet above sea level to 2,906 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,100 feet, over a distance of 6 nautical miles, and took approximately 2 minutes to complete.
The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 08R at EDDM Munich Airport, flying from the west at a heading of 83.0° and at an altitude of 1,428 feet above ground level. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 0°C, with a wind speed of 3 knots at a direction of 45°.
The aircraft landed on runway 08R, which has a length of 3,987 meters. The touchdown point was 136 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 132 knots, which was slightly above the target speed. The touchdown rate was firm at -340 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.8 meters from the centerline.
The total landing distance was 2,197 meters, which is 55% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good, and the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway in approximately 4 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 277 nautical miles, and the flight took approximately 58 minutes to complete. The aircraft used a total of 2,515 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed on runway 08R at EDDM Munich Airport, but with some minor deviations from the ideal landing parameters. The final approach was initiated from the west, heading 83.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,428 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on the runway, but the touchdown point was 136 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight deviation from the intended landing spot.
The touchdown speed of 132 knots was slightly above the target speed, which could have contributed to the firm touchdown rate of -340 feet per minute (fpm). The runway touchdown position was also slightly misaligned by 6.8 meters from the centerline, although the runway rollout alignment was very good. The threshold height at 75 feet agl was well above the target, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 137 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 0°C, a wind speed of 3 knots at 45°, and a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 3 knots. The total landing distance of 2,197 meters was 55% of the runway length, which is a relatively normal landing distance for an Airbus A321 aircraft.
Overall, the landing was successful, but with some minor deviations from the ideal parameters. The pilots demonstrated good control of the aircraft, and the runway rollout alignment was very good. However, the touchdown speed and touchdown rate could be improved in future landings to achieve a smoother touchdown.
