A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 500 ft gate: speed above the reference speed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,952 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,952 m of the 3,602 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 438 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, an Airbus A321, then departed from runway 12 at Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (LJLJ). The takeoff distance was 1,303 meters, which is 40% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 152 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 31 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 10 knots from a direction of 102 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 9 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile south west of Lahovce, a town in Slovenia. The climb took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 36 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 2,176 feet above sea level to 19,641 feet.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted 10 minutes and covered a distance of 69 nautical miles. This phase began 1 mile north of Ljubnica, another town in Slovenia. The aircraft then started its enroute descent, beginning 1 mile south west of Schaeffern, a town in Austria. The descent took 13 minutes and covered a distance of 40 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from an altitude of 19,452 feet to 1,876 feet.
The final approach to runway 34 at Vienna International Airport (LOWW) was made from the south, with the aircraft heading 344.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,278 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. However, the aircraft was forced to execute a go-around at an altitude of 32 feet above ground level. The aircraft then landed on runway 34, which has a length of 3,602 meters. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was above the target speed of 144 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 440 meters, but the touchdown speed of 135 knots was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -263 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 6.2 meters. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 31 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 25 knots from a direction of 309 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 14 knots and a headwind of 20 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,869 meters, which is 52% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 162 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 57 minutes. The aircraft used 2,957 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed at Vienna International Airport (LOWW) on runway 34, achieving a score of 97.5%. The final approach was initiated from the south, heading 344.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,278 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a good threshold height, but the threshold speed was significantly above the target speed at 144 knots. This indicates that the aircraft may have been slightly too fast during the approach, which could have been a result of the strong headwind of 20 knots. The touchdown distance of 440 meters was considered good, but the touchdown speed of 135 knots was a little fast, which may have contributed to a fair touchdown rate of -263 feet per minute (fpm).
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.2 meters from the centerline, which may have been a result of the crosswind of 14 knots. However, the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was well under control during the landing roll.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 31°C and a wind speed of 25 knots from 309°. The crosswind component was 14 knots, while the headwind component was 20 knots. These conditions may have contributed to the slightly fast touchdown speed and the misaligned runway touchdown position.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with a good touchdown distance and a very good runway rollout alignment. However, there were some areas for improvement, including the slightly fast touchdown speed and the misaligned runway touchdown position.
