See Departure Roll
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,642 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,642 m of the 4,036 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 572 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 777-300, then departed from runway 09R at London Heathrow Airport, with a takeoff distance of 1,797 meters, which was 54% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 200 knots.
As the aircraft climbed out of London Heathrow, it encountered local weather conditions of 28°C temperature and a wind speed of 14 knots at 99°. The crosswind was 3 knots, while the headwind was 14 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile north of Feltham, Greater London, England, where the aircraft climbed from 1,107 feet above sea level to 6,002 feet above sea level, an increase of 4,895 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 13 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 1 mile east of Thornton Heath, Greater London, England, and lasted 5 minutes, covering a distance of 27 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another enroute climb 1 mile south-west of Bredgar, Kent, England, where it climbed from 6,796 feet above sea level to 31,535 feet above sea level, an increase of 24,739 feet in 16 minutes, covering a distance of 122 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise continued 1 mile south-west of Herzele, Flanders, Belgium, and lasted 265 minutes, covering a distance of 2,276 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another enroute climb 26 miles south-west of OI03 Garmsār Southwest Airport, Garmsār, Semnan Province, Iran, where it climbed from 31,815 feet above sea level to 33,888 feet above sea level, an increase of 2,073 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 31 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise continued 43 miles south of OI03 Garmsār Southwest Airport, Garmsār, Semnan Province, Iran, and lasted 277 minutes, covering a distance of 2,269 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another enroute climb at a latitude of 14.5861256 and longitude of 88.2255282, where it climbed from 34,805 feet above sea level to 36,517 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,712 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 13 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise continued at a latitude of 14.4217749 and longitude of 88.4139279, and lasted 123 minutes, covering a distance of 959 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent 10 miles west of Kampar, Perak, Malaysia, where it descended from 36,420 feet above sea level to 1,398 feet above sea level, a decrease of 35,022 feet in 33 minutes, covering a distance of 106 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 32R at Kuala Lumpur International Airport was made from the south-east, heading 326.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,339 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 32R was successful, with a touchdown point 162 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 129 knots, which was good, while the touchdown rate was fair at -240 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.9 meters from the centreline, and the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.2 meters from the centreline. The total landing distance was 1,567 meters, which was 39% of the runway length. The
The Boeing 777-300 aircraft successfully landed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (WMKK) on runway 32R, achieving a score of 94.9%. The final approach was initiated from the southeast, heading 326.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,339 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft touched down on the runway, with the threshold speed being slightly below the target at 135 knots. The touchdown point was located 162 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 129 knots was within the acceptable range, indicating a good landing. However, the touchdown rate of -240 feet per minute (fpm) was only fair, suggesting that the aircraft could have been brought down more smoothly.
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.9 meters from the centerline, which may have contributed to the slightly misaligned runway rollout alignment of 8.2 meters from the centerline. Despite these minor deviations, the total landing distance of 1,567 meters was only 39% of the available runway length, indicating a relatively short landing roll.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 33°C and a light wind of 3 knots from a direction of 100°. The crosswind and tailwind components were both minimal at 2 knots, which suggests that the wind did not significantly impact the landing. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score despite some minor deviations from the ideal landing parameters.
