MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,831 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 527 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a short taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, taking approximately 2 minutes and covering less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-900, then departed from runway 04 at PAHO Homer Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,009 meters, which is 50% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 151 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were quite cold, with a temperature of -6 degrees Celsius. There was no wind at the airport, with a speed of 0 knots from a direction of 270 degrees. The aircraft experienced no crosswind or headwind during takeoff.
After departing from Homer Airport, the aircraft began its enroute climb, which started overhead Kachemak City in Alaska. The climb took 27 minutes and covered a distance of 189 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 1,110 feet above sea level to 37,228 feet above sea level, an increase of 36,118 feet.
The enroute level cruise started 34 miles southeast of PAMD Middleton Island Airport in Alaska and lasted for 126 minutes, covering a distance of 898 nautical miles. This was the longest segment of the flight, during which the aircraft maintained a steady altitude.
The enroute descent started 5 miles west of CCS6 Courtenay (Smit Field) Airport in British Columbia, Canada. The descent took 19 minutes and covered a distance of 114 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from an altitude of 36,917 feet above sea level to 1,471 feet above sea level, a decrease of 35,446 feet.
The final approach to runway 07 at CYXX Abbotsford International Airport was made from the west, with a heading of 86.0 degrees. The aircraft was at an altitude of 1,277 feet above ground level and 4 nautical miles from the runway threshold.
The landing on runway 07 at CYXX Abbotsford International Airport was successful, with a touchdown point 110 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was a little fast at 134 knots, but the touchdown rate was fair at -241 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were similar to those at the time of departure, with a temperature of -6 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 8 knots from a direction of 89 degrees. The aircraft experienced a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 8 knots during landing.
The total landing distance was 1,039 meters, which is 37% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was well under control during the landing.
The final taxiing period from the runway to the parking area took approximately 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,208 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 178 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 7,777 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-900 aircraft successfully landed at Abbotsford International Airport (CYXX) on runway 07. The final approach was initiated from the west, heading 86.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,277 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft demonstrated a high level of proficiency in its approach, with a score of 98.5%.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down 110 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. However, the touchdown speed of 134 knots was slightly above the target speed, indicating that the pilot may have been able to maintain a more controlled descent. The touchdown rate of -241 feet per minute was considered fair, suggesting that the aircraft's rate of descent was not excessively steep.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of -6°C and a wind speed of 8 knots from a direction of 89°. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 8 knots, which the pilot effectively managed during the landing. The runway touchdown alignment was deemed very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline.
The total landing distance of 1,039 meters was 37% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. This suggests that the pilot was able to maintain a high level of control and precision during the landing. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft demonstrating a high level of proficiency and control. The pilot's ability to manage the wind and maintain a controlled descent resulted in a safe and efficient landing.
