MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,352 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 445 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 12L at KBFL Meadows Field. The aircraft, a Vision Jet, accelerated down the runway, covering a distance of 465 meters, which accounted for 21% of the runway's length. The liftoff speed was achieved at 86 knots, marking the start of the takeoff phase.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it encountered local weather conditions of 26°C temperature and a 10-knot wind blowing from 320°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the tailwind component was 10 knots. The aircraft continued to climb, reaching an altitude of 6,654 feet above sea level, an increase of 6,126 feet from the initial altitude of 528 feet. This climb phase took approximately 4 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles.
Once the aircraft reached the desired cruising altitude, it entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 13 minutes and covered a distance of 42 nautical miles. This phase began 2 miles north of Oildale, California. The aircraft then started its descent, initially from 6,975 feet to 6,520 feet, a decrease of 456 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, this time lasting 3 minutes and covering 8 nautical miles. This phase began 1 mile north-east of 33CA Lloyd's Landing Airport Rosamond. The aircraft then started its final descent, from 6,510 feet to 3,929 feet, a decrease of 2,581 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 30 at KMHV Mojave Airport was made from the south-east, with the aircraft heading 315° at 4 nautical miles and 1,126 feet above ground level. The landing was executed on runway 30, which had a length of 3,352 meters. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was too high at 88 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 444 meters, and the touchdown speed was 67 knots, which was within acceptable limits. However, the touchdown rate was very hard at -550 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 22°C temperature and a 28-knot wind blowing from 290°, with a crosswind component of 12 knots and a headwind component of 25 knots.
The total landing distance was 498 meters, which accounted for 15% of the runway's length. The total flight distance was 69 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 29 minutes. The aircraft used 103 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Vision Jet aircraft successfully landed on runway 30 at KMHV Mojave Airport, achieving a score of 87.0%. The final approach was initiated from the south east, heading 315.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,126 feet above ground level.
Upon landing, the aircraft demonstrated good threshold height, indicating a well-executed approach. However, the threshold speed was slightly higher than optimal at 88 knots, which may have been a result of the aircraft's approach configuration or the pilot's decision-making. Despite this, the touchdown distance of 444 meters was considered good, and the touchdown speed of 67 knots was within acceptable limits.
One area of concern was the touchdown rate, which was very hard at -550 feet per minute. This may indicate that the aircraft was not fully configured for landing, or that the pilot may have been experiencing difficulties with the aircraft's descent. Nevertheless, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, suggesting that the pilot had maintained control of the aircraft throughout the approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 22°C, with a wind speed of 28 knots from 290°. This resulted in a crosswind of 12 knots and a headwind of 25 knots, which the pilot successfully managed during the landing. The total landing distance of 498 meters was only 15% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing roll.
Finally, the runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the pilot had maintained control of the aircraft throughout the landing roll and had successfully brought the aircraft to a stop. Overall, while there were some minor issues with the landing, the Vision Jet aircraft demonstrated a high level of proficiency and control during the approach and landing at KMHV Mojave Airport.
