Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,738 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 533 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, a CRJ900, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (KDTW). This process took 4 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 03L, with a takeoff distance of 1,147 meters, which accounted for 44% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 145 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions of 5°C temperature and a wind speed of 31 knots at 330°. The crosswind component was 26 knots, while the headwind component was 16 knots. After departing from KDTW, the aircraft began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile northeast of the airport and climbing from 1,348 feet above sea level to 13,660 feet above sea level, an increase of 12,312 feet in 7 minutes, covering a distance of 27 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 4 miles east of Harrow Airport (CGL2) in Ontario, Canada, and lasted for 5 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another enroute climb, this time starting 4 miles west of Leamington, Ontario, and climbing from 14,101 feet above sea level to 14,607 feet above sea level, an increase of 506 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 6 miles south of Leamington, with the aircraft descending from 14,807 feet above sea level to 13,457 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,350 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another enroute level cruise, starting 4 miles east of Pelee Island Airport (CYPT) in Ontario, Canada, and lasting for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 7 miles northeast of CYPT, with the aircraft descending from 13,012 feet above sea level to 2,019 feet above sea level, a decrease of 10,992 feet in 12 minutes, covering a distance of 42 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 24R at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (KCLE), approaching from the northeast at a heading of 228.0° and 4 nautical miles from the airport.
The landing on runway 24R was successful, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 144 knots. However, the touchdown speed was a little fast at 138 knots, and the touchdown rate was good at -174 feet per minute. The touchdown point was 148 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.7 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 9°C temperature and a wind speed of 26 knots at 250°, with a crosswind component of 9 knots and a headwind component of 24 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,330 meters, which accounted for 49% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 11.5 meters from the centerline. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking 5 minutes and covering a distance of 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 98 nautical miles, taking 37 minutes, and the aircraft used 1,039 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The CRJ900 aircraft successfully landed on runway 24R at KCLE Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, achieving a score of 93.5%. The final approach was initiated from the north-east, heading 228.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,239 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft maintained a good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 144 knots.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 148 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is slightly off-center. The touchdown speed of 138 knots was a bit faster than ideal, but the touchdown rate of -174 feet per minute (fpm) was within acceptable limits. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 4.7 meters from the centerline, which may have contributed to the slightly off-center touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 9°C, with a wind speed of 26 knots from 250°. This resulted in a crosswind of 9 knots and a headwind of 24 knots. The total landing distance of 1,330 meters was 49% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight.
During the rollout, the aircraft's alignment was slightly off-center by 11.5 meters from the centerline. This may have been a result of the initial touchdown position being off-center, which can affect the aircraft's ability to maintain a straight course during rollout. Overall, the landing was successful, but there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown speed and alignment.
