Improve the takeoff
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 8,995 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 693 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 26 at PHTO Hilo International Airport. The TBM 930 aircraft took off with a takeoff distance of 1,522 feet, which accounted for 16% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 89 knots. At the time of departure, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 61°F, a wind speed of 1 knot at 270°, and a crosswind of 0 knots with a headwind of 1 knot.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb overhead PHTO Hilo International Airport, rising from an altitude of 836 feet above sea level to 30,025 feet above sea level, an increase of 29,189 feet in 22 minutes. This climb covered a distance of 61 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise began 6 miles west of PHUP Upolu Airport and lasted for 9 minutes, covering 46 nautical miles.
The aircraft then started its enroute descent 12 miles southwest of PHWA Waikapu Airport, descending from 30,005 feet above sea level to 5,991 feet above sea level, a decrease of 24,014 feet in 9 minutes. This descent covered a distance of 45 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started again 17 miles southwest of HI49 Panda Airport and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 8 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its final descent 19 miles south of East Honolulu, descending from 5,991 feet above sea level to 3,492 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,499 feet in 4 minutes. This descent covered a distance of 18 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started once more 13 miles south of SB35 Honolulu and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 8 nautical miles.
The aircraft then started its final descent 11 miles south of Ocean Pointe, descending from 3,492 feet above sea level to 1,294 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,198 feet in 4 minutes. This descent covered a distance of 11 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 04R at PHNL Daniel K Inouye International Airport was made from the southwest, heading 53.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,279 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 04R was successful, with a touchdown distance of 688 feet, which was good. However, the touchdown speed of 74 knots was slightly above the target speed, and the touchdown rate was firm at -319 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 11 feet from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 59°F, a wind speed of 1 knot at 269°, and a crosswind of 1 knot with a tailwind of 1 knot.
The total landing distance was 1,436 feet, which accounted for 16% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing to the parking from the runway took 4 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 202 nautical miles, and the flight used 389 pounds of fuel.
The TBM 930 aircraft successfully landed at PHNL Daniel K Inouye International Airport, achieving a high score of 98.8%. The final approach was conducted from the southwest, heading 53.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,279 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 04R, which has a length of 8,995 feet.
The threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct height as it approached the runway. However, the threshold speed was slightly below the target speed of 80 knots. This could be due to the aircraft's descent rate being too high or the pilot's decision to flare the aircraft earlier than expected.
The touchdown distance was good at 688 feet, which is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's speed and the runway's length. However, the touchdown speed of 74 knots was a little fast, which could have resulted in a firmer touchdown rate. The touchdown rate was indeed firm at -319 feet per minute (fpm), which is within the acceptable range.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 11 feet from the centerline, which could be due to the pilot's alignment or the aircraft's drift during the approach. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 59°F and a light wind of 1 knot from 269°.
The total landing distance was 1,436 feet, which is 16% of the runway's length. This is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's speed and the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilot demonstrated good control and decision-making skills. However, there are areas for improvement, such as maintaining a target speed and ensuring better alignment with the runway centerline.
