Improve the takeoff
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
At the 500 ft gate: no landing flap set, sink rate above what the glideslope needed and off the runway's 3° glideslope.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 628 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 628 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 41 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
DG1001E departed runway 24 at EDLH Hamm-Lippewiesen Airfield, accelerating to a liftoff speed of 62 kt after a takeoff distance of 437 m, which accounted for 72% of the available runway length. The aircraft then transitioned into a climb, commencing 1 mile west of Hamm, and rapidly ascended 1,166 ft in 1 minute, covering a distance of 2 nm. This aggressive climb phase was completed at an altitude of 2,372 ft asl.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, maintaining an altitude of 2,372 ft asl for 9 minutes while covering a distance of 11 nm. This steady-state flight phase allowed the aircraft to conserve fuel and maintain a consistent airspeed. The final approach phase began when the aircraft was 1 nm from the runway, heading 239.0° at an altitude of 961 ft agl. The aircraft touched down on runway 24 at a speed of 48 kt, with a touchdown distance of 39 m, which was well within the acceptable limits. The touchdown rate was slightly higher than desired at -424 fpm, but the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The aircraft's performance during the landing phase was satisfactory, with the total landing distance accounting for only 21% of the available runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating a smooth and controlled deceleration. The total flight distance was 15 nm, and the aircraft used 0 kg of fuel, suggesting an efficient flight profile. The local weather conditions remained consistent throughout the flight, with a temperature of 15 °C and a wind speed of 5 kt at 245°.
The aircraft, DG1001E, successfully executed a final approach to runway 24 at EDLH Hamm-Lippewiesen Airfield from the north east, aligning with the heading of 239.0° at 1 nautical mile and 961 feet above ground level. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a good threshold height achieved. However, the threshold speed was slightly below the target at 52 knots, indicating a slight deviation from the optimal approach speed.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft demonstrated a good touchdown distance of 39 meters, with a speed of 48 knots. Although the touchdown rate was hard at -424 feet per minute, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating precise control during the final stages of the approach. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 15°C and a 5-knot headwind, contributed to a relatively smooth landing. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, further facilitating a stable touchdown.
The aircraft's rollout was characterized by excellent alignment, with the aircraft remaining centered on the runway. The total landing distance of 126 meters, representing 21% of the runway length, was within acceptable limits. Overall, the landing performance of DG1001E was satisfactory, earning a score of 91.1%. The pilot's ability to maintain control and precision during the approach and touchdown phases was evident, despite the slight deviation in threshold speed.
