Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 4,022 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 451 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, which took approximately 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-600, then departed from runway 16R at LTBJ Adnan Menderes International Airport. The takeoff distance was 974 meters, which accounted for 30% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 145 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 12 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 2 knots at 159 degrees. The crosswind was negligible, while the headwind was 1 knot. As the aircraft took off, it began its enroute climb, which started approximately 1 mile northeast of Menderes, a city in Izmir, Turkey. The climb was from an initial altitude of 1,411 feet above sea level to a maximum altitude of 38,638 feet, an increase of 37,227 feet in 33 minutes, covering a distance of 234 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which began approximately 88 miles southeast of Karpathos, a Greek island in the South Aegean region. This phase lasted for 138 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 891 nautical miles. The cruise phase was followed by an enroute descent, which started approximately 76 miles east of Karmah an Nuzul, a city in Northern Sudan. The descent was from a maximum altitude of 38,826 feet to an altitude of 2,158 feet, a decrease of 36,669 feet in 14 minutes, covering a distance of 94 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 02 at HSMN Merowe Airport was made from the south, with a heading of 23.0 degrees at an altitude of 4 nautical miles and 1,266 feet above ground level. The landing was executed on runway 02, which had a length of 4,022 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 133 knots. The touchdown distance was 451 meters, and the touchdown speed was 119 knots, both of which were considered good. The touchdown rate was also good at -179 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 3.9 meters.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 31 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 8 knots at 30 degrees. The crosswind was 1 knot, while the headwind was 7 knots. The total landing distance was 910 meters, which accounted for 23% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking area took less than 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
In summary, the flight covered a total distance of 1,226 nautical miles, taking approximately 177 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 7,796 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-600 aircraft successfully landed at HSMN Merowe Airport, achieving a high score of 99.2%. The final approach to runway 02 was conducted from the south, with a heading of 23.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,266 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach and landing were executed smoothly, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 133 knots.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's performance was satisfactory, with a touchdown distance of 451 meters, which is within the acceptable range. The touchdown speed of 119 knots was also good, and the touchdown rate of -179 feet per minute (fpm) was within the normal limits. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.9 meters from the centerline, which may require some adjustments in the approach procedure.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 31°C and a wind speed of 8 knots at 30°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 7 knots, which helped to stabilize the aircraft during the approach and landing. The total landing distance of 910 meters was 23% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing roll.
The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft's brakes were applied smoothly and effectively, and the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was successful, and the aircraft's performance was satisfactory, with a high score of 99.2%.
