MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Smooth the climb
A good takeoff has a defined shape. It also has a defined end. For an airliner that's thrust reduction and acceleration, commonly somewhere around 1,000 to 1,500 ft above the airfield depending on the operator, while for a light aircraft it's established at Vy with the flaps on schedule. Most simmers have no defined end to their takeoff, which is exactly why it never gets judged.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,076 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,076 ft of the 10,001 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,474 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Boeing 737-800 taxied from the parking area to runway 13L at KDAL Dallas Love Field in 12 minutes, covering a distance of 1 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 13L, the aircraft accelerated through a takeoff distance of 4,929 ft, representing 67 % of the runway, and lifted off at 150 kt. Ambient conditions were 100 °F with a wind of 5 kt from 192°, including a 4 kt cross-wind component and a 3 kt head-wind component.
Climb commenced 1 nm south-west of University Park, Texas, where the airplane rose from 1,418 ft asl to 38,009 ft asl, a gain of 36,592 ft achieved in 21 minutes while covering 136 nm.
The first cruise segment began 6 nm south-east of Throckmorton Mun, Texas, and persisted for 143 minutes, during which the aircraft travelled 1,015 nm at level altitude.
Descent started 5 nm south-west of Mina Airport, Nevada, with the flight descending from 38,002 ft asl to 10,042 ft asl, a loss of 27,960 ft over 15 minutes and a distance of 96 nm.
A brief cruise phase followed 8 nm east of Sparks, Nevada, lasting 5 minutes and covering 21 nm.
The next descent began 3 nm north of NV17 Youngberg Ranch Airport, Lemmon Valley, Nevada, dropping from 9,828 ft asl to 8,897 ft asl, a reduction of 931 ft in 2 minutes while traveling 6 nm.
A short cruise then occurred 1 nm north of FreedomFox (FFOX), Reno, Nevada, for 2 minutes and a distance of 5 nm.
Subsequent descent started 6 nm north-west of the same FreedomFox location, descending from 8,898 ft asl to 7,496 ft asl, a loss of 1,402 ft in 2 minutes and covering 5 nm.
Another cruise segment originated 5 nm north of FreedomFox, lasting 5 minutes and spanning 14 nm.
The final descent began 2 nm west of Spanish Springs, Nevada, with the aircraft lowering from 7,121 ft asl to 5,725 ft asl, a decrease of 1,397 ft in 2 minutes and a distance of 4 nm.
On final approach to runway 17R at KRNO Reno-Tahoe International Airport, the aircraft aligned from the north on a heading of 180.0°, intercepting the glide path at 4 nm and 1,296 ft agl.
Landing on runway 17R, which is 10,001 ft long, the threshold speed was recorded at 141 kt. Touchdown occurred at 1,474 ft down the runway with a speed of 138 kt, a touchdown rate of minus 151 fpm, and a lateral deviation of 13 ft from the centreline. Total landing distance measured 4,831 ft, representing 48 % of the runway, and rollout alignment was very good.
The aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in 6 minutes, covering a further 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 1,312 nm, required 213 minutes of airborne time, and consumed 17,917 lb of fuel.
The Boeing 737-800 entered the final approach to runway 17R at KRNO Reno Tahoe International Airport from the north on a heading of 180.0° at 4 nm and 1,296 ft agl. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits. Ambient conditions were temperature 86 °F, wind 4 kt at 160°, giving a 1 kt cross-wind component and a 4 kt head-wind component.
At threshold the aircraft maintained a good threshold height and a good threshold speed of 141 kt. The flare produced a touchdown distance of 1,474 ft, and the aircraft touched down at 138 kt, noted as a little fast. The vertical touchdown rate was good at minus 151 fpm, while the touchdown point was slightly misaligned by 13 ft from the centreline.
Touchdown therefore occurred with a speed of 138 kt, a descent rate of minus 151 fpm, and a lateral offset of 13 ft from centreline, all within acceptable limits except for the modest speed excess.
Rollout was very good, with runway alignment maintained throughout. Total landing distance was 4,831 ft, representing 48 % of the 10,001 ft runway, and the runway rollout alignment was very good. The overall score for the landing was 98.8 %.
Fine-tune the flare timing to reduce the touchdown speed slightly below the threshold speed, and adjust the final alignment to eliminate the 13 ft lateral offset, which will bring the already excellent performance to optimal precision.
