Improve the taxi
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,477 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,477 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 255 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 31 at CYVP Kuujjuaq Airport, a small airport located in Kuujjuaq, Quebec, Canada. The Boeing 737-900 aircraft took off with a takeoff distance of 726 meters, which was 49% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 145 knots, and the local weather conditions were quite cold, with a temperature of -31°C and a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 329°.
As the aircraft climbed out of Kuujjuaq, it began its enroute climb, which started 1 mile northwest of the airport. The climb was steep, with the aircraft ascending from 1,153 feet above sea level to 37,056 feet in just 27 minutes, covering a distance of 190 nautical miles. This impressive climb was a testament to the aircraft's powerful engines and the skilled piloting of the crew.
After reaching cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise, which lasted for 178 minutes and covered a distance of 1,066 nautical miles. This long stretch of steady flying allowed the crew to settle into a routine and prepare for the next phase of the flight.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its enroute descent, which started 56 miles southwest of Hellissandur, a small town located in Vesturland, Iceland. The descent was steep, with the aircraft descending from 37,402 feet to 4,174 feet in just 13 minutes, covering a distance of 93 nautical miles. This rapid descent was necessary to prepare the aircraft for landing.
After a brief level cruise, the aircraft began its final descent, which started 1 mile north of Akranes, a town located in Vesturland, Iceland. The descent was shallow, with the aircraft descending from 3,596 feet to 1,513 feet in just 3 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 19 at BIRK Reykjavik Airport was from the north, with the aircraft heading 175.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,471 feet above ground level. The landing was smooth, with the aircraft touching down on the runway at a speed of 131 knots, which was slightly faster than the target speed. The touchdown distance was good, at 252 meters, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were mild, with a temperature of 6°C and a wind speed of 5 knots from a direction of 100°. The crosswind was 5 knots, and the headwind was 1 knot. Despite the challenging wind conditions, the crew managed to bring the aircraft to a safe stop, with a total landing distance of 771 meters, which was 52% of the runway length.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking less than 1 minute and covering less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,371 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 197 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 8,402 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-900 aircraft successfully landed at Reykjavik Airport, BIRK, with a high score of 99.6%. The final approach to runway 19 was initiated from the north, with the aircraft heading 175.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,471 feet above ground level (agl).
The landing was executed on runway 19, which has a length of 1,477 meters. The threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct height as it approached the runway. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 133 kn, coming in at 134 kn. This minor deviation from the target speed did not seem to have a significant impact on the overall landing performance.
The touchdown distance was good, measuring 252 meters, which is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. However, the touchdown speed was a little fast at 131 kn, which may have contributed to a slightly higher touchdown rate of -237 feet per minute (fpm). Despite this, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was well-aligned with the runway as it touched down.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 6°C and a wind speed of 5 kn from a direction of 100°. The crosswind component was 5 kn, while the headwind component was 1 kn. These conditions were favorable for the landing, and the aircraft was able to maintain a stable approach and touchdown.
The total landing distance was 771 meters, which is 52% of the runway length. This is a reasonable distance, considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was well-controlled as it rolled out of the runway after touchdown. Overall, the landing was a success, with the aircraft touching down safely and rolling out of the runway without incident.
