Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 2,152 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,152 m of the 3,987 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 469 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking to the runway at Nice-Côte d'Azur Airport, taking 9 minutes and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 04R, with a takeoff distance of 1,439 meters, which was 49% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 152 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of 31°C temperature and winds of 8 knots at 140 degrees. The crosswind was 8 knots, while the tailwind was 1 knot. The enroute climb started overhead Nice-Côte d'Azur Airport, with the aircraft ascending from 1,046 feet above sea level to 32,255 feet above sea level, an increase of 31,208 feet in 17 minutes and covering a distance of 98 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 4 miles north of Torriglia, Italy, and lasted for 16 minutes, covering a distance of 122 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent 3 miles east of Madonna di Campiglio, Italy, descending from 32,897 feet above sea level to 5,055 feet above sea level, a decrease of 27,843 feet in 20 minutes and covering a distance of 125 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another enroute level cruise, this time overhead Pastetten, Germany, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 12 nautical miles. The final enroute descent started 1 mile east of Taufkirchen, Germany, with the aircraft descending from 5,063 feet above sea level to 2,831 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,233 feet in 3 minutes and covering a distance of 11 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 26L at Munich Airport was from the east, with the aircraft heading 263.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,351 feet above ground level. The landing took place on a runway length of 3,987 meters, with the threshold height at 57 feet above ground level being slightly above target. The threshold speed was well above target at 146 knots.
The touchdown point was 55 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with the touchdown speed at 138 knots being a little fast. The touchdown rate was firm at -369 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 27°C temperature and winds of 7 knots at 320 degrees, with a crosswind of 6 knots and a headwind of 4 knots.
The total landing distance was 2,074 meters, which was 52% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good, and the aircraft taxiing to the parking from the runway took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 378 nautical miles, taking 77 minutes, and the aircraft used 3,689 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A321 successfully landed on runway 26L at EDDM Munich Airport, achieving a score of 96.0%. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the east, heading 263.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,351 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was conducted with a slight deviation in threshold height, being 57 feet agl, which was slightly above the target.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was 146 knots, significantly above the target speed. This indicates that the pilots may have applied a bit more braking or reverse thrust than necessary, resulting in a firm touchdown rate of -369 feet per minute (fpm). The touchdown point was 55 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 27°C and a gentle wind of 7 knots from 320°. The crosswind component was 6 knots, while the headwind component was 4 knots. These conditions did not appear to have a significant impact on the landing.
The total landing distance of 2,074 meters was 52% of the available runway length, which is a relatively efficient use of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilots maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft touching down firmly and coming to a stop in a controlled manner.
