MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 9,982 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,158 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with taxiing from the parking to the runway at WMKC Sultan Ismail Petra Airport, which took 5 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 10, with a takeoff distance of 2,238 feet, which was 28% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 105 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions of 85°F temperature and winds of 4 knots at 150°. The crosswind was 3 knots, and the headwind was also 3 knots. After departing from the airport, the enroute climb started 1 mile east of WMKC Sultan Ismail Petra Airport, climbing from an altitude of 1,021 feet above sea level to 32,314 feet above sea level, an increase of 31,293 feet in 24 minutes, covering a distance of 80 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 71 miles north of WMPR LTS Pulau Redang Airport, lasting 45 minutes and covering 229 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent 13 miles north of Soc Trang, Vietnam, descending from 32,004 feet above sea level to 2,375 feet above sea level, a decrease of 29,629 feet in 24 minutes, covering a distance of 80 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started again 5 miles southwest of Bien Hoa, Vietnam, lasting only 2 minutes and covering 4 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 25R at VVTS Tan Son Nhat International Airport was made from the east, heading 247.0° at 3 nautical miles and 1,764 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 25R was successful, with a touchdown distance of 1,158 feet, which was good. However, the touchdown speed of 76 knots was fast, and the touchdown rate of -157 feet per minute was good. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 19 feet from the centreline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 93°F temperature and winds of 9 knots at 87°. The crosswind was 3 knots, and the tailwind was 8 knots. The total landing distance was 3,937 feet, which was 39% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 41 feet from the centreline. After landing, the aircraft taxiied to the parking, which took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 400 nautical miles, taking 109 minutes, and the aircraft used 678 pounds of fuel.
The Vision Jet aircraft successfully landed on runway 25R at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, achieving a score of 90.9%. The final approach was initiated from the east, heading 247.0° at a distance of 3 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,764 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft successfully touched down on the runway, with a touchdown distance of 1,158 feet, which is considered good.
However, there were some areas for improvement during the landing. The threshold speed was too high at 88 knots, indicating that the pilot may have been able to flare the aircraft more effectively to reduce the touchdown speed. The actual touchdown speed was 76 knots, which is considered fast. Despite this, the touchdown rate was good at -157 feet per minute (fpm), indicating that the aircraft was able to absorb the impact of touchdown smoothly.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 19 feet from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's alignment during the final approach. The local weather conditions were hot, with a temperature of 93°F, and a moderate tailwind of 8 knots. The crosswind was relatively light at 3 knots, which may have contributed to the slight misalignment during touchdown.
The total landing distance was 3,937 feet, which is 39% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the pilot was able to control the aircraft effectively during the final approach and touchdown. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 41 feet from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's alignment during the rollout phase.
Overall, the Vision Jet aircraft performed well during the landing, achieving a good score of 90.9%. However, there were some areas for improvement, including the threshold speed and touchdown speed, which may be addressed through further training and practice.
