Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,736 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,736 m of the 3,987 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 529 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A321, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Split Airport, which took approximately 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 23, with the takeoff distance covering 62% of the runway's length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 157 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time were characterized by a temperature of 18°C, a wind speed of 13 knots from a direction of 310°, resulting in a 13-knot crosswind and a 3-knot headwind.
As the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude, it began its enroute climb over Mastrinka, Split-Dalmatia, Croatia. The climb took 21 minutes to reach an altitude of 35,827 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,798 feet from the initial altitude of 1,029 feet. During this time, the aircraft covered a distance of 137 nautical miles. Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise 4 miles southwest of Gerovo, Primorsko-Goranska Zupanija, Croatia, and maintained this altitude for 5 minutes, covering an additional 43 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its enroute descent 2 miles northwest of Poljane nad Skofjo Loko, Gorenja Vas-Poljane, Slovenia. The descent took 27 minutes to reach an altitude of 2,773 feet above sea level, a decrease of 33,050 feet from the cruising altitude. During this time, the aircraft covered a distance of 161 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 26L at Munich Airport was made from the east, with the aircraft heading 263.0° at an altitude of 1,297 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing took place on runway 26L, which had a length of 3,987 meters. The threshold height was slightly above the target, and the threshold speed was also slightly above the target at 139 knots. The touchdown point was 119 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 131 knots, which was a little fast. However, the touchdown rate was fair at -262 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 3°C, a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 20°, resulting in a 4-knot crosswind and a 2-knot tailwind.
Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, which took approximately 8 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 349 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 69 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 3,127 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 successfully landed on runway 26L at EDDM Munich Airport, achieving a score of 97.8%. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the east, heading 263.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,297 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was conducted with a slight deviation in threshold height, being 57 feet agl, which was slightly above the target.
The aircraft touched down on the runway at a speed of 131 knots, which was a little fast. However, the touchdown rate of -262 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 3°C and a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 20°. The crosswind component was 4 knots, while the tailwind component was 2 knots. Despite these conditions, the aircraft performed well, with a total landing distance of 1,661 meters, which accounted for 42% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the aircraft maintained its alignment with the runway during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score and demonstrating good performance in various aspects of the landing.
