Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 2,271 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,271 m of the 3,709 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,255 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A350-900 taxied from the parking area to runway 16 at LSZH Zürich Airport, covering 4 nm in 10 minutes.
During the departure roll on runway 16, the aircraft accelerated over a distance of 1,215 m, representing 33 % of the runway, and lifted off at 156 kt. Ambient conditions were 30 °C with a wind of 1 kt from 189°, providing a 1 kt headwind and a 1 kt crosswind component.
Climb commenced overhead LSZH, with the airplane climbing from 2,369 ft asl to 35,014 ft asl, an increase of 32,645 ft achieved in 23 minutes while covering 167 nm.
Cruise began 1 mile east of Ubersee in Bavaria, Germany, and persisted for 12 minutes, during which 98 nm were flown.
Descent was initiated 1 mile south of Tesovice in the Czech Republic, descending from 34,075 ft asl to 2,509 ft asl, a loss of 31,566 ft over 16 minutes and a distance of 84 nm.
The final approach to runway 06 at LKPR Václav Havel Airport Prague was flown from the south-west on a heading of 65.0°, intercepting the glide path at 4 nm and 1,312 ft agl. Weather at the destination was 26 °C with a wind of 4 kt from 92°, giving a 4 kt headwind and a 2 kt crosswind.
Landing on runway 06, which is 3,709 m long, occurred with a threshold height of 74 ft agl and a threshold speed slightly above target at 132 kt. The aircraft touched down 840 m beyond the designated touchdown zone, at a speed of 127 kt, and the vertical speed at touchdown was minus 475 fpm. The touchdown point was laterally displaced by 16.0 m from the centreline.
The total landing distance recorded was 2,191 m, representing 59 % of the runway, and the rollout was laterally misaligned by 14.6 m from the centreline.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area in less than 1 nm, a movement that took 5 minutes.
In summary, the flight covered 359 nm, required 66 minutes of airborne time, and consumed 6,668 kg of fuel.
The Airbus A350-900 on a final approach to runway 06 at LKPR Václav Havel Airport Prague maintained a heading of 65.0° at 4 nm and 1,312 ft agl, with local temperature 26 °C, wind 4 kt from 92°, a 2 kt cross-wind component and a 4 kt head-wind component; the overall landing score was 77.5 %.
At the threshold the aircraft crossed at 74 ft agl, which was well above target, and the threshold speed was slightly above target at 132 kt.
Touchdown occurred 840 m beyond the designated touchdown zone, with a speed of 127 kt that was a little fast and a hard vertical rate of minus 475 fpm; the touchdown point was significantly misaligned by 16.0 m from the centreline and the total landing distance measured 2,191 m, representing 59 % of the 3,709 m runway.
During rollout the aircraft remained slightly misaligned by 14.6 m from the centreline as it decelerated along the runway.
Focus on reducing the lateral deviation at touchdown and moderating the vertical rate to avoid hard landings; refining speed control and flare technique will help bring the touchdown point and alignment within acceptable limits.
