Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,987 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 154 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 08R at Munich Airport (EDDM). The aircraft, an Airbus A319, accelerated down the runway and lifted off at a speed of 165 kt, covering a distance of 327 m, which was 8% of the runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 13 °C and a wind speed of 11 kt blowing from a direction of 80°. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 kt and a headwind of 11 kt.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb 1 mile east of EDDM Munich Airport. The climb was steep, with the aircraft ascending from an initial altitude of 2,473 ft to a maximum altitude of 4,767 ft, an increase of 2,293 ft in just 1 minute. This climb phase covered a distance of 3 nm.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, during which it flew at a constant altitude of 4,767 ft for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 13 nm. The cruise phase took place overhead Oberding, a town located in the state of Bavaria, Germany.
As the aircraft began its enroute descent, it started from a point 2 miles northwest of Oberschleissheim, another town in Bavaria. The descent was from an altitude of 4,879 ft to 2,783 ft, a decrease of 2,095 ft in 4 minutes. This phase of the flight covered a distance of 7 nm.
The final approach to runway 08R at EDDM Munich Airport was made from the west, with the aircraft flying at a heading of 83.0° and at an altitude of 1,304 ft above ground level (agl). The aircraft was 4 nm from the runway threshold at this point.
The landing was made on runway 08R, which had a length of 3,987 m. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 138 kt, at 138 kt. The touchdown distance was good, at 153 m, but the touchdown speed was a little fast, at 134 kt. The touchdown rate was very heavy, at -742 fpm, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline, by 3.2 m.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were the same as at the time of takeoff, with a temperature of 13 °C and a wind speed of 11 kt blowing from a direction of 80°. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 kt and a headwind of 11 kt.
In total, the flight covered a distance of 27 nm and took 10 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 455 kg of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 successfully landed on runway 08R at EDDM Munich Airport, achieving a score of 90.9%. The aircraft approached the runway from the west, heading 83.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,304 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot's decision to land on runway 08R, which has a length of 3,987 meters, was a good choice given the aircraft's performance.
Upon touchdown, the threshold height was reported to be good, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down at a safe distance from the runway threshold. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 137 kt, which may have been due to the aircraft's weight or the pilot's decision to flare slightly earlier than intended. The touchdown distance of 153 meters was within acceptable limits, indicating that the pilot was able to control the aircraft's descent effectively.
Despite the good touchdown distance, the touchdown speed of 134 kt was a little fast, which may have contributed to the heavy touchdown rate of -742 fpm. A heavier touchdown rate can put additional stress on the aircraft's landing gear and may increase the risk of damage. The runway touchdown position was also slightly misaligned by 3.2 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to the pilot's decision to align the aircraft with the runway centerline or a slight deviation in the aircraft's flight path.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 13°C and a wind speed of 11 kt from a direction of 80°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 kt, while the headwind component was 11 kt, which may have helped to reduce the aircraft's ground speed and improve the pilot's ability to control the aircraft during the landing. Overall, the pilot's performance during the landing was good, but there were some areas for improvement, particularly in terms of touchdown speed and touchdown rate.
