Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
At the 500 ft gate: off the centreline.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,431 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 281 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 16 at LGTS Thessaloniki Macedonia International Airport. The Airbus A320 took off after covering 72% of the runway, with a takeoff distance of 1,756 meters. The liftoff speed was 152 knots, and the aircraft climbed steadily into the sky.
The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 9 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 9 knots from a direction of 139 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 8 knots. The aircraft began its enroute climb 1 mile northeast of Plagiari, Central Macedonia, Greece, and climbed from an altitude of 1,061 feet above sea level to 1,912 feet above sea level, an increase of 851 feet in just 1 minute, while covering a distance of 2 nautical miles.
As the aircraft continued its journey, it began another enroute climb, this time overhead LGTS Thessaloniki Macedonia International Airport. The aircraft climbed from an altitude of 1,898 feet above sea level to 551 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,347 feet in just 1 minute, while covering a distance of 2 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 16 at LGTS Thessaloniki Macedonia International Airport was made from the north, with the aircraft heading 144.0 degrees at a distance of 1 nautical mile and an altitude of 523 feet above ground level. The landing was executed smoothly, with the aircraft touching down on the runway at a speed of 108 knots and a touchdown distance of 282 meters. The touchdown rate was also good, at -180 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline, by 5.5 meters. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were the same as at the time of takeoff, with a temperature of 9 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 9 knots from a direction of 139 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 8 knots. The total landing distance was 927 meters, which was 38% of the runway length.
The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned from the centreline, by 7.9 meters. The total flight distance was 7 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 4 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 147 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at LGTS Thessaloniki Macedonia International Airport, achieving a high score of 96.7%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north, heading 144.0° at 1 nautical mile and 523 feet above ground level (agl). The landing was executed on runway 16, which has a length of 2,431 meters.
The threshold height was reported as good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 120 knots. The touchdown distance was also good, measuring 282 meters. The touchdown speed of 108 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -180 feet per minute (fpm) was also good.
However, there were some minor deviations during the landing. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.5 meters from the centerline. Additionally, the local weather conditions, with a temperature of 9°C and wind at 9 knots from 139°, resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 8 knots.
The total landing distance was 927 meters, which is 38% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 7.9 meters from the centerline. Despite these minor deviations, the overall performance of the aircraft was satisfactory, and the landing was considered successful.
