Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
At the 1,000 ft gate: centreline 2.2° off, against a 1° limit.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,284 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 529 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Boeing 777F departed NZAA Auckland International Airport on runway 05R, applying a take-off roll of 1,787 m which represented 54 % of the available runway; liftoff was achieved at 137 kt. Ambient conditions were 32 °C with a wind of 5 kt from 001°, providing a 2 kt head-wind component and a 5 kt cross-wind component.
Climb commenced one mile east of the airport, where the aircraft accelerated from 997 ft asl to 1,383 ft asl, an increase of 385 ft, over a period of 1 minute while covering 3 nm.
Cruise began two miles west of Takanini and was maintained for 4 minutes, during which the flight covered 13 nm at level flight.
Descent was initiated from 1,338 ft agl down to 57 ft agl, a reduction completed in 94 seconds.
During the final approach to runway 05R, the crew met the stabilisation gates criteria; weather remained unchanged with a temperature of 32 °C, wind 5 kt from 001°, a 5 kt cross-wind and a 2 kt head-wind.
Landing was executed on runway 05R, whose total length is 3,284 m; the threshold height was satisfactory and the threshold speed recorded was 147 kt. Touchdown occurred 114 m beyond the touchdown zone at a speed of 135 kt, with a touchdown rate of minus 181 fpm and a lateral deviation of 4.0 m from the centreline. The total landing distance measured 1,098 m, representing 33 % of the runway, and rollout alignment was judged very good.
Runway rollout proceeded without deviation, confirming the very good alignment noted at touchdown.
Taxi-in to the parking area was completed in less than 1 minute, covering less than 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 23 nm, took 8 (unspecified units) and consumed 1,293 kg of fuel.
The Boeing 777F approached runway 05R at NZAA Auckland International Airport with an unstable assessment at the 1,000 ft gate, being off the centreline, and completed a descent from 1,338 ft AGL to 57 ft AGL in 94 seconds, scoring on the stabilisation gates.
At threshold the aircraft presented a good threshold height and a good threshold speed of 147 kt.
Touchdown occurred 114 m beyond the touchdown zone with a good touchdown speed of 135 kt and a good vertical rate of minus 181 fpm; the touchdown point was slightly misaligned by 4.0 m from the centreline, and the total landing distance was 1,098 m, representing 33 % of the 3,284 m runway.
Rollout alignment was very good, completing the landing within the remaining runway length.
Maintain precise centreline tracking on final approach and aim for the designated touchdown zone to keep runway alignment within tolerance and further improve the already high score.
