Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 7,562 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 7,562 ft of the 10,247 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 3,398 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Overall, I would like to commend the pilot for achieving an aircraft landing score of 87.3%. While there were a few areas for improvement, there were also many strengths in the landing process.
In the Approach Phase, the descent path was noted to be below the glideslope limit. This indicates that there may have been a slight deviation from the ideal approach angle. However, this is a common occurrence and with practice, adjustments can be made to improve accuracy in future landings.
Moving on to the Landing Phase, it is great to see that the threshold height was well executed. This demonstrates good timing and precision in getting the aircraft in the correct position for touchdown. However, there was mention of a very poor landing flare. The landing flare is crucial for a smooth touchdown and can greatly affect the overall landing quality. I encourage the pilot to focus on honing this skill for better landings in the future.
In the Touchdown Phase, the touchdown rate was deemed good, and although the speed was slightly above target, it was within an acceptable range. The touchdown point being 2059 ft beyond the touchdown zone is something to work on for more precise landings. Additionally, the runway touchdown position being 21 ft from the centerline could be improved with practice and attention to alignment.
It is worth noting that the pilot successfully managed a 14 kn crosswind during the landing, which is a commendable feat. Handling crosswinds requires skill and experience, and it is clear that the pilot managed it well in this instance.
Finally, in the Rollout Phase, the runway alignment was 18 ft from the centerline. While this was slightly off, it is still within an acceptable range and can be refined with practice.
Overall, this landing had many strengths and areas for improvement. Keep up the good work and continue to focus on fine-tuning your skills to achieve even better landings in the future. Remember, each landing is an opportunity to learn and grow as a pilot. Great job on this landing!
