Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,722 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 529 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A319, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at LJLJ Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport. This process took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 30, with the aircraft lifting off at a speed of 4 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 22 °C and a wind speed of 16 knots at a direction of 10 °.
As the aircraft took off, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead the airport at Zgornji Brnik. The climb took the aircraft from an altitude of 2,296 feet above sea level to 36,407 feet, an increase of 34,110 feet, in just 20 minutes. This climb phase covered a distance of 128 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 57 minutes and covered a distance of 215 nautical miles. This cruise phase began 4 miles northwest of Mariastein in Tirol, Austria.
The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started overhead Sponheim in Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. The descent took the aircraft from an altitude of 35,733 feet to 9,988 feet, a decrease of 25,745 feet, in just 12 minutes. This descent phase covered a distance of 72 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which lasted for 2 minutes and covered a distance of 9 nautical miles. This cruise phase began 1 mile north of Gouvy in Wallonia, Belgium.
The aircraft then began its final descent, which started 1 mile southwest of Trois-Ponts in Wallonia, Belgium. The descent took the aircraft from an altitude of 9,971 feet to 2,000 feet, a decrease of 7,970 feet, in just 7 minutes. This descent phase covered a distance of 26 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which lasted for 33 minutes and covered a distance of 34 nautical miles. This cruise phase began 1 mile southwest of Donceel in Wallonia, Belgium.
The final approach to runway 01 at EBBR Brussels Airport was made from the south, with the aircraft heading at 14.0 ° and being 4 nautical miles from the runway. The aircraft landed on the runway, which had a length of 2,722 meters. The touchdown point was 109 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 128 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was hard at -458 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.0 meters from the centreline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 22 °C and a wind speed of 16 knots at a direction of 10 °. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the headwind was 16 knots. The total landing distance was 1,364 meters, which was 50 % of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.7 meters from the centreline.
In total, the flight covered a distance of 492 nautical miles and took 94 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 3,393 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 aircraft successfully landed at Brussels Airport (EBBR) on runway 01, achieving a score of 92.0%. The final approach was conducted from the south, heading 14.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,304 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on the runway, which has a length of 2,722 meters, with a good threshold height.
The threshold speed was maintained at 131 knots, indicating a smooth and controlled approach. However, the touchdown point was 109 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, suggesting a slight deviation from the intended landing spot. The touchdown speed of 128 knots was slightly faster than the ideal speed, which may have contributed to a harder touchdown rate of -458 feet per minute (fpm).
The runway touchdown position was also misaligned by 9.0 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the approach or during the landing roll. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 22°C and a headwind of 16 knots at 10°. The crosswind component was minimal, at 1 knot.
The total landing distance of 1,364 meters was 50% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing roll. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.7 meters from the centerline, suggesting a slight deviation in the aircraft's direction during the landing roll. Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some minor deviations from the ideal landing parameters.
