Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 9,936 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,263 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, then departed from runway 10 at Simón Bolívar International Airport (SVMI). The takeoff distance was 1,909 feet, which accounted for 17% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 137 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were favorable, with a temperature of 80 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 0 knots at 90 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 0 knots and a headwind of 0 knots. The aircraft began its enroute climb 1 mile northwest of Maiquetia, Venezuela, and ascended from an altitude of 1,175 feet above sea level to 22,956 feet above sea level, an increase of 21,781 feet in 8 minutes, covering a distance of 38 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 11 miles north of Guatire Airport (SVJV) and lasted for 11 minutes, covering a distance of 67 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent 3 miles southeast of La Tortuga Punta Delgada Airport (SVDA) and descended from 22,966 feet above sea level to 1,443 feet above sea level, a decrease of 21,523 feet in 19 minutes, covering a distance of 67 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 09 at Del Caribe Santiago Mariño International Airport (SVMG) was made from the west, with a heading of 78.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,376 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 09, which had a length of 9,936 feet. The threshold height was above the target, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 115 knots.
The touchdown point was 865 feet beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 107 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -221 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were similar to those at takeoff, with a temperature of 79 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 6 knots at 66 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 5 knots.
The total landing distance was 4,486 feet, which accounted for 45% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 4 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 181 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 48 minutes. The aircraft used 3,920 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-700 aircraft successfully landed at Del Caribe Santiago Mariño International Airport, achieving a score of 90.2%. The final approach to runway 09 was initiated from the west, with a heading of 78.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,376 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down 865 feet beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is slightly outside the target area. The touchdown speed of 107 knots was a bit faster than the target speed, indicating that the pilot may have needed to apply more braking force to bring the aircraft to a stop. However, the touchdown rate of -221 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair, suggesting that the pilot was able to manage the descent effectively.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 79°F and a gentle wind of 6 knots from a direction of 66°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 5 knots, which helped to reduce the aircraft's ground speed and make the landing more manageable.
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot was able to maintain a stable and aligned approach to the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, suggesting that the pilot was able to control the aircraft's speed and direction effectively during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft coming to a stop within 45% of the runway length. However, there were some minor issues with the touchdown speed and distance, which may indicate the need for further training or adjustments to the pilot's technique.
