Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,883 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 593 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Rome–Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International Airport, taking 13 minutes and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 25, with the aircraft lifting off after a takeoff distance of 2,053 meters, which was 71% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 161 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of 14°C temperature and winds of 13 knots at 130 degrees. The crosswind was 11 knots, while the tailwind was 7 knots. The enroute climb started overhead the airport, with the aircraft ascending from 1,011 feet above sea level to 34,917 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,906 feet in 19 minutes and covering a distance of 121 nautical miles.
After reaching the desired altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise, starting 7 miles southeast of Capoliveri, Italy. This phase of the flight lasted 52 minutes and covered a distance of 373 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, starting 1 mile north of Prenois, France, and descending from 34,583 feet above sea level to 2,911 feet above sea level, a decrease of 31,672 feet in 25 minutes and covering a distance of 131 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 1 mile southwest of Pontcarre, France, and lasting only 2 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles. The descent phase resumed, starting 1 mile south of La Queue-en-Brie, France, and descending from 2,695 feet above sea level to 1,528 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,167 feet in 2 minutes and covering a distance of 4 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 25 at Paris-Orly Airport was made from the east, with the aircraft heading 254.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,236 feet above ground level. The landing took place on runway 25, which was 2,883 meters long. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 137 knots. The touchdown point was 174 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 134 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was firm at -360 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 14.6 meters from the centerline, and the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 13.2 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 11°C temperature and winds of 20 knots at 240 degrees, with a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 19 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,427 meters, which was 49% of the runway length. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 5 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 642 nautical miles, taking 119 minutes, and the aircraft used 4,488 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 aircraft successfully landed at LFPO Paris-Orly Airport, but with some minor deviations from the ideal landing parameters. The final approach was initiated from the east, heading 254.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,236 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 25, which has a length of 2,883 meters.
The threshold height was satisfactory, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 137 kt. The touchdown point was 174 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight deviation from the intended landing spot. The touchdown speed of 134 kt was a bit faster than the desired speed, resulting in a firm touchdown rate of -360 feet per minute (fpm).
The runway touchdown position was also misaligned by 14.6 meters from the centerline, which may have contributed to the slightly faster touchdown speed. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 11°C, with a wind speed of 20 kt from 240°. This resulted in a crosswind of 5 kt and a headwind of 19 kt, which may have affected the aircraft's approach and landing.
The total landing distance was 1,427 meters, which is 49% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down and come to a stop within a reasonable distance. However, the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 13.2 meters from the centerline, which may have been a result of the initial touchdown position being off-center.
Overall, the landing was successful, but with some minor deviations from the ideal parameters. The pilots were able to bring the aircraft to a safe stop within a reasonable distance, despite the challenging weather conditions and slight deviations from the intended landing spot.
