Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,597 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,597 m of the 2,130 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 390 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking to the runway at Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport, taking 13 minutes and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 30, with a takeoff distance of 1,565 meters, which accounted for 57% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 158 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of 9°C temperature and a 6-knot headwind. The enroute climb started 1 mile northwest of the airport and reached an altitude of 34,015 feet above sea level, an increase of 32,948 feet in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 107 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered a level cruise, starting 3 miles west of Santa Elena, Spain, and lasted for 27 minutes, covering a distance of 201 nautical miles. The enroute descent started 5 miles east of Fuentearmegil, Spain, and descended from 33,066 feet to 23,034 feet in 5 minutes, covering 37 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 2 miles southwest of San Millan de la Cogolla, Spain, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 11 nautical miles. The enroute descent started 1 mile north of LECY San Torcuato Cidamon, Spain, and descended from 23,024 feet to 4,432 feet in 11 minutes, covering 52 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 5 miles east of Ampuero, Spain, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 5 nautical miles. The enroute descent started 1 mile west of Castro-Urdiales, Spain, and descended from 3,978 feet to 1,451 feet in 4 minutes, covering 12 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 12 at Bilbao Airport was made from the west, heading 117.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,318 feet above ground level. The landing took place on a runway length of 2,130 meters, with a threshold speed of 140 knots and a touchdown speed of 133 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown distance was 390 meters, and the touchdown rate was firm at -337 feet per minute.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 16°C temperature and a 10-knot crosswind. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 10.4 meters from the centreline, and the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 10.4 meters from the centreline. The total landing distance was 1,517 meters, accounting for 71% of the runway.
The taxiing to the parking from the runway took 6 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 434 nautical miles, taking 88 minutes, and the aircraft used 3,229 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at Bilbao Airport (LEBB) with a score of 94.8%. The aircraft approached the runway from the west, heading 117.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,318 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was made to runway 12, which has a length of 2,130 meters.
The threshold height was good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct height as it approached the runway. The threshold speed of 140 knots was also satisfactory, demonstrating that the pilot had maintained control and was on track for a smooth landing. The touchdown distance of 390 meters was within acceptable limits, further indicating a well-executed landing.
However, the touchdown speed of 133 knots was slightly faster than desired, which may have resulted in a firmer touchdown rate of -337 feet per minute (fpm). This could potentially have caused some discomfort for the passengers, but it did not appear to have any significant impact on the overall safety of the landing.
One notable issue was the misalignment of the runway touchdown position, which was off-centerline by 10.4 meters. This may have been due to a combination of factors, including wind and pilot error. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 16°C and a wind speed of 10 knots from 210°. The crosswind component was 10 knots, while the tailwind component was minimal at 1 knot.
The total landing distance of 1,517 meters was 71% of the runway length, which is within acceptable limits. However, the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 10.4 meters from the centerline, which may have been a result of the initial touchdown position being off-centerline. Overall, the landing was considered satisfactory, with a score of 94.8%, but there were some areas for improvement that the pilot could work on in the future.
