Smooth the climb
A good takeoff has a defined shape. It also has a defined end. For an airliner that's thrust reduction and acceleration, commonly somewhere around 1,000 to 1,500 ft above the airfield depending on the operator, while for a light aircraft it's established at Vy with the flaps on schedule. Most simmers have no defined end to their takeoff, which is exactly why it never gets judged.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 6,648 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,854 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight was conducted on a REDWING SUPER CONSTELLATION 1049 C aircraft, departing from runway 25R at KLAX Los Angeles International Airport. The takeoff distance was 209 feet, which accounted for 2% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 102 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 67 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 13 knots at 240 degrees.
As the aircraft took off, it began its enroute climb, starting overhead KLAX Los Angeles International Airport and climbing from an altitude of 276 feet above sea level to 1,730 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,454 feet in just 3 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then started overhead Alondra Park, lasting for 2 minutes and covering 1 nautical mile.
The enroute descent began overhead Gardena, where the aircraft descended from 2,181 feet above sea level to 142 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,039 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 8 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 12 at KLGB Long Beach Airport was made from the northwest, heading at 136.0 degrees at an altitude of 90 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 12 at KLGB Long Beach Airport was successful, with a touchdown speed of 102 knots and a touchdown rate of -195 feet per minute, which was considered good. However, the touchdown point was 1,450 feet beyond the touchdown zone, and the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 37 feet from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 64 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 8 knots at 190 degrees.
The total landing distance was 4,102 feet, which accounted for 62% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 35 feet from the centreline. The total flight distance was 15 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 6 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 26,411 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The REDWING SUPER CONSTELLATION 1049 C American Overseas successfully landed at KLGB Long Beach Airport (Daugherty Field) with a score of 89.6%. The aircraft approached the runway from the northwest, heading 136.0° at an altitude of 90 feet above ground level (agl) and 0 nautical miles from the runway. The final approach was executed with good threshold height, indicating that the aircraft was properly configured for landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was slightly above the target threshold speed at 124 knots, which is a relatively high speed but still within acceptable limits. The touchdown point was 1,450 feet beyond the designated touchdown zone, which may indicate a slight over-shooting of the target. However, the touchdown speed of 102 knots was good, and the touchdown rate of -195 feet per minute (fpm) was also within acceptable limits.
One notable issue during the landing was the misalignment of the runway touchdown position, which was off-centerline by 37 feet. This may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's approach path or a miscalculation of the runway alignment. Additionally, the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 35 feet from the centerline, which may have been caused by the same factors.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 64°F and a wind speed of 8 knots from 190°. The crosswind component was 7 knots, and the headwind component was 5 knots, which may have contributed to the slight misalignment of the touchdown and rollout positions.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some minor issues with alignment and touchdown position. The aircraft's performance was good, and the crew demonstrated a high level of skill and proficiency in executing the landing.
