MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,410 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,410 ft of the 10,819 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,968 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A330-900 taxied from the parking area to runway 08 at ESSA Stockholm-Arlanda Airport, a movement that lasted 4 minutes and covered less than 1 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 08, the aircraft used 5,172 ft of runway, representing 63 % of the available length, and lifted off at 167 kt. Local weather at the time was 58 °F with a wind of 1 kt from 69 °, giving a headwind component of 1 kt and no crosswind.
Climb commenced 2 mi east of ESSA, with the airplane ascending from 1,060 ft asl to 36,855 ft asl, an increase of 35,795 ft achieved in 23 minutes while covering 153 nm.
The first enroute level cruise began 17 mi west of Tofta (Gotland County, Sweden) and continued for 152 minutes, during which 1,259 nm were flown.
Descent started 5 mi south-west of Agios Kirykos (North Aegean, Greece), dropping from 36,976 ft asl to 6,908 ft asl, a loss of 30,068 ft in 15 minutes over 101 nm.
A second enroute cruise was initiated 10 mi south-west of Symi (South Aegean, Greece) and lasted 8 minutes, covering 36 nm.
The next descent began 8 mi east of Faliraki (South Aegean, Greece), descending from 5,863 ft asl to 1,748 ft asl, a decrease of 4,115 ft in 3 minutes across 11 nm.
A brief cruise segment followed 2 mi north-east of Rodos (South Aegean, Greece), lasting 2 minutes and spanning 4 nm.
Final approach to runway 24 at LGRP Diagoras Airport was conducted from the east, on a heading of 249.0° at 4 nm and 1,219 ft agl.
Landing on runway 24, which is 10,819 ft long, featured a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 142 kt, slightly above target. Touchdown occurred 605 ft beyond the touchdown zone at a speed of 136 kt, a little fast, with a touchdown rate of minus 202 fpm and very good alignment. Local weather reported a temperature of 79 °F, wind 5 kt from 250 °, providing a headwind component of 5 kt and no crosswind. Total landing distance was 5,147 ft, representing 48 % of the runway.
Runway rollout alignment was perfect as the aircraft decelerated and exited the runway.
The aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in 3 minutes, covering less than 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 1,572 nm, required 213 minutes of airborne time, and consumed 45,711 lbs of fuel.
The Airbus A330-900 performed a final approach to runway 24 at LGRP Diagoras Airport from the east, tracking a heading of 249.0° at 4 nm and 1,219 ft agl. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits, and the aircraft carried a score of 97.9 %.
During the threshold and flare phase the threshold speed was slightly above target at 142 kt and the touchdown point was 605 ft beyond the touchdown zone, with a good threshold height noted.
Touchdown occurred with a speed of 136 kt, described as a little fast, and a fair touchdown rate of minus 202 fpm. Runway touchdown alignment was very good; local weather was 79 °F with wind 5 kt from 250°, crosswind 0 kt and headwind 5 kt.
The rollout covered a total landing distance of 5,147 ft, representing 48 % of the 10,819 ft runway, and runway rollout alignment was perfect.
Maintain the target threshold speed and aim to touch down within the designated zone to keep the landing distance and speed margins optimal. Minor adjustments to speed control in the flare will further tighten the touchdown point without affecting the overall high score.
