Improve the touchdown
There are several things that can go wrong during the flare, carrying too much speed over the threshold, starting the flare at the wrong height and inconsistent flight control inputs, all contribute to a poor flare resulting in a hard touchdown or a float down the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 1,000 ft gate: sink rate above what the glideslope needed and off the runway's 3° glideslope.
At the 500 ft gate: sink rate above what the glideslope needed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,882 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 176 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The 2.14 G arrival is the firm side of smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A220-300 taxied to runway 27L at LFPG Charles de Gaulle International Airport and commenced the departure roll. The aircraft accelerated over a takeoff distance of 1,352 m, representing 38 % of the runway, and lifted off at 144 kt. Ambient conditions were 32 °C with a wind of 17 kt from 260°, providing a 17 kt headwind and a 2 kt crosswind component.
Climb began approximately 1 nm north of Roissy-en-France, with the airplane ascending from 1,366 ft asl to 24,618 ft asl. The altitude gain of 23,252 ft was achieved in 11 minutes while covering 63 nm.
Level cruise was established about 2 nm south-east of Forceville-en-Vimeu and persisted for 3 minutes, during which the aircraft travelled 23 nm at a constant altitude.
Descent was initiated roughly 4 nm north-west of Cayeux-sur-Mer, descending from 24,574 ft asl to 2,077 ft asl. The loss of 22,497 ft occurred over 16 minutes and spanned 81 nm.
The final approach to runway 26L at EGKK London Gatwick Airport was flown from the east, on a heading of 260.0° at 3 nm and 1,827 ft agl. Weather at Gatwick reported a temperature of 22 °C, wind 18 kt from 220°, yielding a 14 kt headwind and an 11 kt crosswind component.
Landing on runway 26L, which is 2,889 m long, was executed with a threshold speed of 171 kt. Touchdown occurred 180 m down the runway at a speed of 162 kt, with a heavy vertical rate of minus 784 fpm and a lateral deviation of 5.1 m from the centreline. The total landing distance measured 1,163 m, equivalent to 40 % of the runway, and the rollout ended with a centreline misalignment of 22.3 m.
In summary, the flight covered a total distance of 172 nm, taking 32, and consumed 1,237 kg of fuel.
The final approach to runway 26L at EGKK was flown from the east on a heading of 260.0° at 3 nm and 1,827 ft agl, with a temperature of 22 °C, wind 18 kt from 220°, a cross-wind component of 11 kt and a head-wind component of 14 kt; the threshold height was reported as good.
At threshold the aircraft was at a speed of 171 kt, which the data notes as too high, and the flare was executed thereafter.
Touchdown occurred 180 m down the runway, a distance described as good, with a speed of 162 kt that was a little fast, a very heavy sink rate of minus 784 fpm, and a touchdown point slightly misaligned by 5.1 m from the centreline.
The total landing distance was 1,163 m, representing 40 % of the 2,889 m runway, and the rollout was misaligned by 22.3 m from the centreline.
Reduce the threshold speed to bring the approach closer to the target and manage the flare to achieve a lighter sink rate, while maintaining centreline tracking through the rollout to improve alignment.
