MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 10,463 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,304 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with taxiing from the parking to the runway at Kodiak Airport, PADQ, which took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 19 and took off, reaching a liftoff speed of 97 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 61°F, with a wind speed of 1 knot at 270°.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it began its enroute climb from 1,050 feet above sea level to 10,007 feet above sea level, an increase of 8,957 feet in just 5 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles. The climb continued, and the aircraft reached a level cruise altitude of 10,008 feet above sea level, 3 miles southeast of Ouzinkie Airport, 4K5. This level cruise lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 8 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began another enroute climb, this time from 10,008 feet above sea level to 30,863 feet above sea level, an increase of 20,856 feet in 17 minutes, covering a distance of 64 nautical miles. The climb continued, and the aircraft reached a level cruise altitude of 30,572 feet above sea level, 11 miles south of Dog Fish Bay Airport, AK07. This level cruise lasted for 11 minutes, covering a distance of 50 nautical miles.
As the aircraft began its descent, it started from 30,572 feet above sea level and descended to 3,524 feet above sea level, a decrease of 27,048 feet in 21 minutes, covering a distance of 82 nautical miles. The descent continued, and the aircraft reached a level cruise altitude of 3,948 feet above sea level, 3 miles south of Fire Island Airport, 6AK5. This level cruise lasted for 8 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began another enroute climb, this time from 3,948 feet above sea level to 4,785 feet above sea level, an increase of 837 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles. The climb continued, and the aircraft began its descent from 4,758 feet above sea level to 4,261 feet above sea level, a decrease of 496 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 2 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began another enroute descent, this time from 3,684 feet above sea level to 1,812 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,872 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 15 at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, PANC, began from the north, heading 164.0° at 2 nautical miles and 1,640 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 15 at PANC was completed, with a touchdown distance of 1,232 feet, which was good. However, the touchdown speed of 76 knots was fast, and the touchdown rate was heavy at -619 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 12 feet from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 59°F, with a wind speed of 1 knot at 270°.
The total landing distance was 1,848 feet, which was 18% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing from the runway to the parking took 10 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 243 nautical miles, taking 92 minutes, and the aircraft used 608 pounds of fuel.
The Vision Jet aircraft has successfully landed at PANC Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, but with some areas for improvement. The final approach to runway 15 was initiated from the north, heading 164.0° at 2 nautical miles and 1,640 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on the runway, which has a length of 10,463 feet.
However, there were some discrepancies in the landing performance. The threshold height at 105 feet agl was excessively over target, indicating that the aircraft descended too quickly or too late. Additionally, the threshold speed was too high at 83 knots, which may have contributed to the excessive descent rate. The touchdown speed of 76 knots was also faster than ideal, resulting in a heavy touchdown rate of -619 feet per minute (fpm).
Despite these issues, the touchdown distance was good at 1,232 feet, and the runway touchdown position was only slightly misaligned by 12 feet from the centreline. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 59°F and a light wind of 1 knot at 270°. The crosswind was minimal at 1 knot, and there was no headwind.
The total landing distance of 1,848 feet was 18% of the runway length, which is within acceptable limits. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase. Overall, while the landing was successful, there are areas for improvement in terms of descent rate, touchdown speed, and threshold height.
