Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 970 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 970 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 233 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 05 at EGHF Solent Airport, where the aircraft, a Piper PA-24-250 Comanche, took off with a takeoff distance of 136 meters, which was 12% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 68 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 10 knots at 11 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 6 knots and a headwind of 8 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead EGHF Solent Airport at Lee-on-Solent in Hampshire, England. The aircraft climbed from an altitude of 1,042 feet above sea level to 3,705 feet above sea level, an increase of 2,663 feet in just 2 minutes, covering a distance of 3 nautical miles. The climb was followed by a series of enroute descents and level cruises, with the aircraft descending from 3,695 feet to 3,152 feet in 2 minutes, covering 4 nautical miles, and then leveling off at 3,152 feet for 2 minutes, covering 3 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began another descent, this time from 2,827 feet to 1,161 feet in 2 minutes, covering 3 nautical miles, and started a level cruise at 1,161 feet for 5 minutes, covering 4 nautical miles. The cruise took place overhead Itchenor in West Sussex, England. The aircraft then began its final descent, which started 1 mile south of Emsworth in Hampshire, England, and ended with a landing on runway 32 at EGHR Goodwood Aerodrome.
The landing was made on a runway with a length of 970 meters, and the threshold height was above the target, while the threshold speed was slightly above target at 72 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 188 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 65 knots, and the touchdown rate was firm at -357 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 7.0 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were the same as at the time of departure.
The total landing distance was 519 meters, which was 54% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 7.7 meters from the centerline. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area from the runway, taking less than 1 minute and covering less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 19 nautical miles, and the flight took 16 minutes, using 10 kilograms of fuel.
The Piper PA-24-250 Comanche successfully landed on runway 32 at EGHR Goodwood Aerodrome, achieving a score of 89.7%. The landing was conducted under favorable local weather conditions, with a temperature of 15 °C and a moderate wind of 10 kt at 11 °. The crosswind component was 8 kt, while the headwind component was 6 kt.
The aircraft touched down at a speed of 65 kt, which was slightly above the target speed. However, the touchdown distance of 188 m was within the acceptable range. The touchdown rate of -357 fpm was firm, indicating a controlled descent. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 7.0 m from the centreline, which may have been due to the crosswind.
The total landing distance of 519 m was 54% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 7.7 m from the centreline, which may have been due to the pilot's reaction to the crosswind.
The threshold height at 61 ft agl was above the target, indicating that the aircraft was slightly higher than expected when reaching the threshold. The threshold speed was also slightly above the target at 72 kt, which may have been due to the aircraft's weight and the wind conditions.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some minor deviations from the target parameters. The pilot's skills and experience were evident in the controlled descent and the relatively short landing distance. However, there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown speed and runway alignment.
