Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,643 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 391 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A319, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at EKCH Copenhagen Kastrup Airport. This process took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 04R, with the aircraft taking off after covering 41% of the runway's length. The takeoff distance was 1,345 meters, and the liftoff speed was 154 knots.
As the aircraft climbed into the air, it encountered local weather conditions of 24°C temperature and a wind speed of 10 knots at 350°. The crosswind was 8 knots, and the headwind was 6 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile northeast of EKCH Copenhagen Kastrup Airport and lasted for 6 minutes, during which the aircraft ascended from 1,022 feet above sea level to 16,025 feet above sea level, covering a distance of 23 nautical miles.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which began 2 miles west of Hillerod and lasted for 9 minutes. During this period, the aircraft covered a distance of 47 nautical miles. The enroute descent started 12 miles southwest of EKAT Anholt Flyveplads Anholt and lasted for 14 minutes, during which the aircraft descended from 15,850 feet above sea level to 1,292 feet above sea level, covering a distance of 54 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 26R at EKYT Aalborg Airport took place from the east, with the aircraft heading 263.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,275 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 26R, which had a length of 2,643 meters, was successful, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 122 knots. The touchdown distance was 388 meters, and the touchdown speed was 112 knots.
However, the touchdown rate was heavy at -679 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 21.1 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 19°C temperature and a wind speed of 11 knots at 330°, with a crosswind of 11 knots and a headwind of 5 knots. The total landing distance was 929 meters, which was 35% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 23.4 meters from the centerline.
The flight concluded with the aircraft taxiing to the parking area from the runway, which took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 134 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 39 minutes. The aircraft used 1,485 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 aircraft successfully landed at EKYT Aalborg Airport, but with some notable deviations from optimal landing procedures. The final approach was initiated from the east, heading 263.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,275 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 26R, which has a length of 2,643 meters.
The threshold height was satisfactory, and the threshold speed was maintained at 122 knots, indicating a good approach speed. The touchdown distance of 388 meters was also within acceptable limits. However, the touchdown speed of 112 knots was slightly lower than the optimal speed, and the touchdown rate of -679 feet per minute (fpm) was considered heavy, indicating a steeper descent than desired.
One of the notable issues with this landing was the significant misalignment of the runway touchdown position, which was 21.1 meters off the centerline. This could be attributed to the crosswind, which was blowing at 11 knots from the northwest, and the headwind, which was 5 knots. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 19°C and a wind speed of 11 knots, may have contributed to the difficulties in maintaining a straight course during the approach.
The total landing distance of 929 meters was 35% of the runway length, which is within acceptable limits. However, the runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 23.4 meters from the centerline, indicating that the aircraft may have drifted off course during the rollout phase. Overall, while the landing was successful, there were some notable deviations from optimal procedures that could be addressed in future training exercises.
