MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,561 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,561 m of the 3,075 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 465 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A319 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Bilbao Airport, taking 13 minutes and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. Departure roll took place on runway 30, with a takeoff distance of 1,335 meters, which was 63% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 163 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of 19°C temperature and a wind speed of 17 knots at 221 degrees. The crosswind was 16 knots, while the headwind was 4 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile east of Erandio, Spain, and the aircraft climbed from 1,146 feet above sea level to 33,131 feet, an increase of 31,986 feet in 16 minutes, covering a distance of 101 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 2 miles south east of Parentis-en-Born, France, and lasted for 49 minutes, covering a distance of 363 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent overhead Aubigny, France, and descended from 32,507 feet to 9,530 feet, a decrease of 22,977 feet in 9 minutes, covering a distance of 71 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, this time overhead Brakel, Belgium, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 17 nautical miles. The enroute descent started 1 mile north west of Mazenzele, Belgium, and the aircraft descended from 9,213 feet to 2,367 feet, a decrease of 6,846 feet in 5 minutes, covering a distance of 26 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, this time overhead Hulshout, Belgium, and lasted for 6 minutes, covering a distance of 11 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 25R at Brussels Airport was made from the north east, heading 245.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,243 feet above ground level.
The landing took place on runway 25R, which had a length of 3,075 meters. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 138 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 465 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 125 knots. The touchdown rate was hard at -497 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.7 meters from the centreline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 5°C temperature and a wind speed of 16 knots at 220 degrees. The crosswind was 7 knots, while the headwind was 14 knots. The total landing distance was 1,475 meters, which was 48% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
The taxiing from the runway to the parking area took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 597 nautical miles, taking 102 minutes, and the aircraft used 3,927 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A319 aircraft successfully landed on runway 25R at EBBR Brussels Airport, achieving a score of 92.6%. The final approach was initiated from the north-east, heading 245.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,243 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 138 kt, which was slightly above the target threshold speed. However, the touchdown distance of 465 meters was considered good, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The touchdown speed of 125 kt was a little fast, which may have contributed to the hard touchdown rate of -497 feet per minute (fpm).
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 6.7 meters, which may have been due to the crosswind component of 7 kt. The local weather conditions at the time of landing included a temperature of 5°C, wind speed of 16 kt at 220°, resulting in a headwind component of 14 kt.
The total landing distance of 1,475 meters was 48% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft touching down on the runway with a good touchdown distance and a relatively short landing distance. However, the hard touchdown rate and slightly misaligned touchdown position may indicate areas for improvement in the pilot's technique.
