MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 2,035 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,035 m of the 2,524 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 414 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Bilbao Airport, LEBB. This process took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 30, with a takeoff distance of 524 meters, which was 25% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 131 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 12 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 8 knots from a direction of 250 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 6 knots and a headwind of 5 knots. The aircraft climbed from 1,139 feet above sea level to 27,255 feet above sea level, an increase of 26,117 feet, in 13 minutes and covering a distance of 44 nautical miles.
The enroute climb started overhead Bilbao Airport and continued until the aircraft reached its cruising altitude. The enroute level cruise then began 1 mile south of Betelu, Spain, and lasted for 17 minutes, covering a distance of 120 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent 4 miles north of San Esteban de Litera, Spain, and descended from 26,476 feet above sea level to 1,321 feet above sea level, a decrease of 25,155 feet, in 21 minutes and covering a distance of 89 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 02 at Barcelona-El Prat Airport, LEBL, was made from the south, heading 19.0 degrees, at a distance of 4 nautical miles and 1,299 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with a touchdown speed of 125 knots and a touchdown rate of -388 feet per minute. The touchdown distance was 411 meters, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.3 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 8 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 20 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 0 knots and a headwind of 4 knots. The total landing distance was 1,947 meters, which was 77% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
The flight then ended with the aircraft taxiing to the parking area from the runway, which took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The total flight distance was 262 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 67 minutes. The aircraft used 2,641 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at LEBL Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, achieving a high score of 96.5%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south, heading 19.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,299 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot executed a precise final approach, taking into account the local weather conditions, which included a temperature of 8°C and a gentle headwind of 4 knots at 20°.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on runway 02, which has a length of 2,524 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was maintained at 133 knots, indicating a well-executed landing. The touchdown distance of 411 meters was also within the acceptable range, and the touchdown speed of 125 knots was good. The touchdown rate of -388 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, suggesting a controlled descent.
However, there was a slight deviation in the runway touchdown position, with the aircraft being 4.3 meters off-centerline. This minor misalignment did not significantly impact the overall landing performance. The local weather conditions, with a gentle headwind and no crosswind, contributed to a smooth landing.
The total landing distance of 1,947 meters was 77% of the runway length, which is within the acceptable range. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was executed well, with the pilot demonstrating good control and precision throughout the approach and landing phases.
