MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 9,848 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 3,367 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Let's start by acknowledging that a landing score of 70.9% is not the end of the world. It shows that there are areas for improvement, but it also highlights some positive aspects of the landing.
In the Approach Phase, it's important to focus on maintaining a proper descent path and keeping the speed close to the target range. By addressing these issues, you'll set yourself up for a smoother transition into the Landing Phase.
During the Landing Phase, pay close attention to your threshold height and landing flare technique. It's crucial to hit the target threshold height and execute a proper flare to ensure a smooth and controlled touchdown. Additionally, work on improving your landing heading and bank angle stability to enhance the overall landing experience.
As you move into the Touchdown Phase, aim to achieve a softer touchdown. While it's great that your speed was on target, try to pinpoint the touchdown point more accurately and work on reducing the distance from the touchdown zone.
Finally, in the Rollout Phase, focus on improving your runway alignment to ensure a safe and efficient exit from the runway. By addressing these specific areas of improvement, you'll see a positive impact on your overall landing score and enhance your skills as a pilot. Remember, every landing is an opportunity to learn and grow, so keep practicing and striving for improvement. You've got this!
