Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,651 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 69 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 04 at LFLP Annecy Haute-Savoie Mont Blanc Airport. The Grumman Avenger aircraft took off with a takeoff distance of 590 meters, which accounted for 52% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 96 knots, and the aircraft climbed steadily into the sky.
As the aircraft climbed, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 10 knots at 11 degrees. The crosswind was 5 knots, and the headwind was 9 knots. The enroute climb started overhead Metz-Tessy, where the aircraft climbed from an altitude of 2,228 feet above sea level to 3,349 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,121 feet in just 1 minute, covering a distance of 2 nautical miles.
After the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started overhead Meythet and lasted for 6 minutes, covering a distance of 16 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 18 at LFLB Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc Airport, approaching from the north at a heading of 172.0 degrees and at an altitude of 1,764 feet above ground level, 3 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing on runway 18 was smooth, with a touchdown distance of 66 meters, which was well within the acceptable range. The touchdown speed was 60 knots, and the touchdown rate was firm at -366 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 10 knots at 11 degrees, with a crosswind of 2 knots and a tailwind of 10 knots.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking just 1 minute to cover a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 22 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 11 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 77 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Grumman Avenger successfully landed at LFLB Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc Airport, achieving a score of 92.1%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north, heading 172.0° at a distance of 3 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,764 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot executed a precise final approach, taking into account the local weather conditions, which included a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 10 knots at 11°.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway at a speed of 60 knots, with a touchdown distance of 66 meters. This was considered good, as it was within the expected range. The touchdown rate was firm, at -366 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a controlled descent. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, demonstrating the pilot's skill and attention to detail.
The local weather conditions, including a 10-knot tailwind, presented a challenge for the pilot. However, the aircraft's performance was not significantly affected, and the pilot was able to maintain control throughout the landing. The total landing distance was 358 meters, which was only 22% of the runway length. This indicates that the pilot was able to bring the aircraft to a stop quickly and efficiently.
During the rollout, the aircraft's alignment was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 11.3 meters. This was the only notable deviation from the ideal landing performance. Despite this, the pilot was able to maintain control and bring the aircraft to a safe stop.
Overall, the Grumman Avenger's landing at LFLB Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc Airport was a success, with a high score of 92.1%. The pilot's skill and attention to detail were evident throughout the landing, and the aircraft's performance was impressive given the local weather conditions.
