Monitor your taxi speed
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 305 m and 152 m above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,043 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 241 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 5 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Learjet 35A, then departed from runway 36 at Milano Linate Airport (LIML). The takeoff distance was 788 meters, which accounted for 32% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 136 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 8 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 0 degrees. There was no crosswind, but a headwind of 2 knots was present. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, which started overhead the Segrate area near Milano Linate Airport. The climb took 21 minutes and covered a distance of 115 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 423 meters above sea level to 10,084 meters above sea level, an increase of 9,661.4 meters.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 1 mile north of Montale in the Toscana region of Italy. This phase lasted for 21 minutes and covered a distance of 169 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 1 mile south-east of the Latina Air Base in the Lazio region of Italy. The descent took 15 minutes and covered a distance of 64 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from an altitude of 10,077 meters above sea level to 978 meters above sea level, a decrease of 9,098.4 meters.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 1 mile south of Forio in the Campania region of Italy. This phase lasted for 22 minutes and covered a distance of 12 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, which started 1 mile east of Bacoli in the Campania region of Italy. The descent took 2 minutes and covered a distance of 6 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from an altitude of 895 meters above sea level to 523 meters above sea level, a decrease of 372.7 meters.
The final approach to runway 06 at Naples International Airport (LIRN) was made from the south-west, with a heading of 55.0 degrees at an altitude of 420.4 meters above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 06, which had a length of 2,043 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 131 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 243 meters, and the touchdown speed was 126 knots, which was also good. However, the touchdown rate was hard at -2.5 meters per second.
The total landing distance was 1,271 meters, which accounted for 62% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 4 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 377 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 79 minutes. The aircraft used 662 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Learjet 35A successfully landed at LIRN Naples International Airport, achieving a high score of 96.8%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southwest, heading 55.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 420.4 meters above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed safely on runway 06, which has a length of 2,043 meters.
The threshold height was good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct altitude as it approached the runway. The threshold speed of 131 knots was also within the acceptable range, demonstrating the pilot's ability to control the aircraft's speed during the landing. The touchdown distance of 243 meters was also good, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down within a safe distance from the runway threshold.
The touchdown speed of 126 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -2.5 meters per second was slightly hard, but not excessively so. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 8 knots from a direction of 29°. The crosswind component was 4 knots, while the headwind component was 7 knots. These conditions did not appear to have a significant impact on the landing.
The total landing distance of 1,271 meters was 62% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. This suggests that the aircraft was able to touch down and come to a stop within a relatively short distance, indicating good control and braking performance. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the aircraft was aligned with the runway centerline during the rollout phase.
Overall, the Learjet 35A's landing at LIRN Naples International Airport was a successful one, with the aircraft demonstrating good control and precision throughout the approach and landing phases.
