Avoid steep turns at low altitude
Below a thousand feet the aeroplane is slow, heavy and close to the ground. A steep turn loses lift, raises the stall speed and flattens the climb just when the gradient matters most. A normal turn on course is a rate one — fifteen degrees or so, twenty-five at the outside, this penalty is to acknowledge when a turn has stopped being a turn and become a manoeuvre.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 6,646 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 6,646 ft of the 11,608 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 775 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 25L at UHWW Vladivostok International Airport, with a takeoff distance of 6,807 feet, which was 59% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 204 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 77°F and a wind speed of 5 knots at 179°. The crosswind was 4 knots, while the headwind was 2 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 2 miles southwest of UHWW Vladivostok International Airport, and climbed from an altitude of 1,055 feet above sea level to 62,958 feet above sea level, an increase of 61,903 feet, in 34 minutes and covering a distance of 379 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise, starting 30 miles southwest of ZYDU Wudalianchi Dedu Airport, and lasted for 169 minutes, covering a distance of 2,859 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 8 miles north of Galich, and descended from an altitude of 61,406 feet above sea level to 16,893 feet above sea level, a decrease of 44,514 feet, in 19 minutes and covering a distance of 207 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 1 mile northeast of UKOA Marino Airstrip, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 12 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting 9 miles northwest of Novosin'kovo, and descended from an altitude of 16,561 feet above sea level to 3,253 feet above sea level, a decrease of 13,308 feet, in 13 minutes and covering a distance of 34 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 3 miles east of Istra, and lasted for 4 minutes, covering a distance of 10 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 06C at UUEE Sheremetyevo International Airport, from the west, heading 80.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,500 feet above ground level.
However, the aircraft was required to perform a go-around at 32 feet above ground level. The aircraft then landed on runway 06C at UUEE Sheremetyevo International Airport, with a runway length of 11,608 feet. The threshold speed was slightly below the target at 167 knots, and the touchdown distance was good at 787 feet. The touchdown speed was a little fast at 165 knots, and the touchdown rate was hard at -476 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 70°F and a wind speed of 4 knots at 60°. The crosswind was 1 knot, while the headwind was 4 knots. The total landing distance was 6,444 feet, which was 56% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also very good.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 3,516 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 253 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 156,951 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Concorde aircraft successfully landed on runway 06C at UUEE Sheremetyevo International Airport, achieving a score of 94.4%. The final approach to the runway was initiated from the west, heading 80.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,500 feet above ground level.
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 165 kt, which was slightly above the target threshold speed. However, the touchdown distance of 787 feet was considered good, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The runway touchdown alignment was also very good, suggesting that the pilot maintained a stable and accurate approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 70°F and a gentle headwind of 4 kt. The crosswind was minimal, at 1 kt, which further contributed to a smooth landing. The total landing distance of 6,444 feet was 56% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft had sufficient stopping distance.
The rollout alignment after touchdown was also very good, suggesting that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft throughout the landing process. However, the hard touchdown rate of -476 fpm may indicate that the pilot could have applied a more gradual descent rate to achieve a smoother touchdown. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the Concorde aircraft demonstrating its capabilities in a challenging environment.
