Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 9,809 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,050 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with taxiing from the parking to the runway, which took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Vision Jet, then departed from runway 18L at ROAH Naha Airport / JASDF Naha Air Base. The takeoff distance was 1,781 feet, which accounted for 18% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 98 knots.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb from 1,015 feet above sea level to 27,474 feet above sea level, an increase of 26,459 feet in 19 minutes, covering a distance of 76 nautical miles. The local weather conditions at the time were a temperature of 76°F and a wind speed of 11 knots at 220°, with a crosswind of 8 knots and a headwind of 8 knots.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise, starting 16 miles east of RORY Yoron Airport. This phase of the flight lasted 58 minutes and covered a distance of 312 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent from 27,046 feet above sea level to 22,418 feet above sea level, a decrease of 4,628 feet in 5 minutes, covering a distance of 23 nautical miles.
The aircraft continued to alternate between level cruise and descent phases, with each descent phase becoming shorter and more gradual. The final descent phase started 3 miles southwest of Isahaya, with the aircraft descending from 3,516 feet above sea level to 2,589 feet above sea level, a decrease of 927 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 32 at RJFU Nagasaki Airport was made from the southeast, with the aircraft heading 318.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,293 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with a touchdown speed of 65 knots and a smooth touchdown rate of -107 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 44 feet from the centreline.
The total landing distance was 2,123 feet, which accounted for 22% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 44 feet from the centreline. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking, which took 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 464 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 132 minutes. The aircraft used 909 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Vision Jet aircraft successfully landed at RJFU Nagasaki Airport, achieving a score of 92.5%. The final approach to runway 32 was initiated from the south east, heading 318.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,293 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 65 kt, which was within the acceptable range. The touchdown distance of 1,048 ft was also satisfactory, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The touchdown rate of -107 fpm was another positive aspect of the landing, as it suggests a gentle and stable touchdown.
However, there were a few areas for improvement. The threshold speed was above the target speed of 82 kt, which may indicate a slightly aggressive approach. Additionally, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 44 ft from the centreline, which could be a concern for safety and navigation. This misalignment was also observed during the runway rollout alignment, where the aircraft was again 44 ft off the centreline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were moderate, with a temperature of 66°F and a wind speed of 24 kt at 230°. The crosswind component was 24 kt, while the headwind component was only 1 kt. These conditions may have contributed to the slight misalignment during the landing and rollout. Overall, the Vision Jet aircraft demonstrated a good performance during the landing, but there is room for improvement in terms of approach speed and runway alignment.
