Improve the pattern downwind leg
Spacing cues are relative to your eyepoint, so two simmers with different FOV settings following the same wingtip cue fly patterns half a mile different in width, and a wide FOV compresses depth so the runway on base looks further away than it is, biasing you towards a late turn. Pick a camera position and FOV, save it, and never change it, because every judgement you calibrate is calibrated to that picture.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
Side view — the last 1,193 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,193 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 154 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 26 at EHTE Teuge Airport, where the DA40-XLS aircraft took off with a takeoff distance of 393 meters, which is 33% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 63 knots. At the time of departure, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 10 knots from a direction of 234 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 8 knots.
As the aircraft entered the left-hand pattern from runway 26, it covered a distance of 1 nautical mile in 16 seconds. The subsequent left-hand pattern crosswind maneuver was completed in less than 1 nautical mile in 20 seconds. The pattern downwind turn was executed with a distance of 1 nautical mile and an angle to the runway of 45 degrees, which is equivalent to 24.2 degrees. The downwind leg was completed in less than 1 nautical mile in 8 seconds.
The final approach to runway 08 at EHTE Teuge Airport was made from the west, with a heading of 87.0 degrees at an altitude of 0 nautical miles and 162 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 08 was successful, with a runway length of 1,193 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly below the target speed at 59 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 152 meters, and the touchdown speed was 49 knots, which was considered good. The touchdown rate was smooth at -105 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good. At the time of landing, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 1 knot from a direction of 270 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 0 knots and a tailwind of 1 knot.
The total flight distance was 5 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 3 minutes. The aircraft used 2 kilograms of fuel during the flight. Overall, the flight was executed smoothly, with good control and adherence to the planned flight path.
The DA40-XLS aircraft successfully landed at EHTE Teuge Airport, achieving a high score of 99.9%. The final approach was conducted from the west, heading 87.0° at an altitude of 162 feet above ground level (agl) and 0 nautical miles from the runway. The aircraft's approach was well-executed, with a good threshold height and a smooth touchdown rate.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on runway 08, which has a length of 1,193 meters. The threshold speed was slightly below the target speed, coming in at 59 knots. However, this did not affect the overall performance of the landing, as the touchdown distance was good at 152 meters. The touchdown speed of 49 knots was also within acceptable limits, indicating a controlled and stable descent.
The runway touchdown alignment was very good, suggesting that the pilot maintained a stable and consistent approach path. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 15°C and a light wind of 1 knot from 270°. This resulted in a negligible crosswind component and a slight tailwind of 1 knot, which did not impact the landing.
Overall, the DA40-XLS aircraft performed well during the landing, demonstrating a high level of skill and control from the pilot. The smooth touchdown rate and good runway alignment are testament to the pilot's ability to execute a safe and controlled landing.
